What a cast!

The gang’s all here in a photo shared courtesy of Alexandra Daddario’s Instagram account to promote her upcoming drama, Wildflower. The image reveals a big family sitting around a table with Kiernan Shipka standing in the forefront. From what we’ve heard so far about the production, it will be a coming of age tale, something that’s clearly demonstrated by the way Shipka’s character takes front and center in the shot.
And if you thought the star power stopped there, you’d be dead wrong. Starring alongside Alexandra Daddario and Kiernan Shipka in Wildflower will be the likes of Jean Smart (Hacks), Dash Mihok (Ray Donovan), Charlie Plummer (Words on Bathroom Walls), Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom), Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Firestarter), Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), Victor Rasuk (Lords of Dogtown), Reid Scott (Veep), Erika Alexander (Run the World), Chris Mulkey (Radio), Kannon Omachi, and Samantha Hyde (Atypical). That’s a lot of people to fit around the dinner table, but as demonstrated in Daddario’s Instagram photo, which you can see below, they all managed to squeeze in.
Matt Smukler will be directing the production which he’s basing off his early life with his family. The dark comedy will follow its lead character, Bea Johnson, as she grows up managing a parent with an intellectual disability and an extended family who disagrees about what’s best for Bea and her parent. Kiernan Shipka will star as Bea with Alexandra Daddarrio playing family member Joy in Wildflower. Not much else is known surrounding who will be portraying who, but the photo shows family dynamics already hard at work.
Alexandra Daddario has been incredibly busy as of late with Wildflower not being her only project in the mix. The Baywatch actress has also been hard at work with AMC’s soon-to-be drama, Mayfair Witches. Based on the late Anne Rice’s beloved novels, the series will also star Jack Huston, Harry Hamlin, and Tongayi Chirisa. In it, Daddario will play Dr. Rowan Fielding, a neurosurgeon who discovers that her family has been hiding an exciting, but dark secret. It turns out that she’s from a long line of witches of which she is the heir of. With all the newfound excitement, evil is also hiding as she goes head to head with a brutal entity that has been stalking her family for years.
No stranger to the world of dramas, Alexandra Daddario will fit right in with the rest of the cast of Wildflower after launching herself further to stardom with HBO’s hit comedy drama, The White Lotus. Her performance on the Mike White created anthology series earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, something that anyone who watched the show would absolutely agree was well earned. While we wait for more information to come out surrounding when we can expect to see the story of Wildflower play out on our screens, we can only hope that Alexandra Daddario and the rest of the cast will be sharing more fun first looks at the dysfunctional family story coming our way soon.
