See Alexandra Daddario Panting With Passion In Mayfair Witches First Look
In anticipation of its January 8 premiere, AMC has released a trailer for the new Alexandra Daddario show Mayfair Witches. Based on the Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy by Anne Rice, the show follows Dr. Rowan Fielding, a neurosurgeon who is the heir to a family of witches from New Orleans. AMC announced the show in December 2021 while it was developing another Anne Rice work, Interview with a Vampire.
Alexandra Daddario plays Rowan, who returns to the family estate of the Mayfair witches and discovers that one of her hereditary gifts is a power so strong it can either heal or kill. While Rowan is the heir to the family, there are many other Mayfairs on the sidelines, all part of the family’s intrigues and follies. There is also a supernatural spirit named Lasher, who is bound to the family and is as seductive as he is dangerous.
Beside Rowan on her journey is Ciprien Grieve, played by Tongayi Chirisa, a character who is a combination of two other figures from Anne Rice’s novels. Ciprien Grieve is an amalgam of the Lives of the Mayfair Witches hero Michael Curry and Aaron Lightner, an investigator for the secret society the Talamasca who appears in both the Mayfair trilogy and The Vampire Chronicles. This link between the shows hints at a potential crossover featuring both Alexandra Daddario’s Mayfair family of witches and the associates of Louis and LeStat from Interview with a Vampire.
AMC bought the rights to both properties in 2019 and began developing Interview with a Vampire right away, and the first episode premiered on October 2, 2022. The vampire drama stars Jacob Anderson, familiar as Grey Worm from Game of Thrones, as Louis, opposite Australian newcomer Sam Reid. The Alexandra Daddario show takes place in the same universe, as confirmed by the common characters in the book that investigate both the vampires and the Mayfair witches.
Aside from Alexandra Daddario and Tongayi Chirisa, Mayfair Witches will feature Jack Huston as Lasher, along with Harry Hamlin, Annabeth Gish, and Geraldine Singer as various members of the Mayfair family. The showrunner, executive producer, and writer is Esta Spalding, who is also known for Da Vinci’s Inquest and the 2020 reboot of Party of Five. The show is co-written and co-executive produced by Michelle Ashford.
Alexandra Daddario has a long list of credits that predate her appearance in Mayfair Witches. Known for Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, the actress has been in movies covering a wide variety of genres, from the campy Baywatch to the slasher thriller Texas Chainsaw. She has also dabbled in producing, including the Satanic slasher We Summon the Darkness and the romantic comedy Can You Keep a Secret?
More recently, she starred in season one of HBO’s acclaimed The White Lotus and the coming-of-age drama Wildflower. If you want to see Alexandra Daddario before Mayfair Witches premieres on AMC on January 8, 2023, you can tune in to HBO Max for The White Lotus. Fans of the Anne Rice universe can check out Interview with a Vampire on AMC+ in anticipation of this new chapter.
