Alexandra Daddario Makes Creepy Look Sexy As She Loses Control In Her New Series Trailer
Alexandra Daddario posts a trailer to her upcoming series Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches to her Instagram account.
Alexandra Daddario “can’t wait” until audiences are able to tune into AMC’s Mayfair Witches on January 8. She shared her excitement in a post on Instagram, along with a trailer for the new show that exhibits the struggle between darkness and light as its central conflict. The trailer shows the Percy Jackson star as Rowan, a neurosurgeon whose gifts go far beyond the operating table as she discovers her family of magic users in New Orleans.
The series is based on the Anne Rice novels The Lives of the Mayfair Witches and follows Rowan and associate Ciprien as they explore the roots of Rowan’s deadly psychic power. Rowan’s meeting with her family sees Alexandra Daddario navigate generations-old prophecies, contemporary family intrigue, and the attentions of the sensuous ghostly spirit Lasher. John Huston plays Lasher, and other co-stars include Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien, Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, the family patriarch, and Annabeth Gish, Beth Grant, and Erica Gimpel as some of the Mayfair women.
The Alexandra Daddario show was created by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford and is part of Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe alongside the Interview with a Vampire series. AMC obtained the rights to the properties from Warner Bros in 2020 and immediately began development on both. The shows are tied together by executive producer Mark Johnson, who said the two are very different despite being a part of the same universe.
Alexandra Daddario was announced as the star earlier this year, and production began in May. The series will consist of eight episodes that begin releasing on Sunday, January 8. It will be both on the AMC cable network and the AMC+ streaming service.
For Alexandra Daddario, this new role is another step in her growing profile as an actress and producer. She had just come from the success of the first season of the HBO hit The White Lotus, where she plays a newlywed beginning to see the downside of her new husband. She has always kept steadily busy since her early days of television guest spots, logging in at least two or three titles a year since her 2002 introduction on All My Children.
However, she is best known for her work in the two Percy Jackson movies, where she played sidekick Annabeth Chase, the descendant of the goddess Athena. These roles were her breakout performances, exposing her to millions of young adult fans. Alexandra Daddario took more mature roles later on in Texas Chainsaw and the self-produced We Summon the Darkness.
She also proved she could work in the spotlight by co-starring in two films with Dwayne Johnson: the nostalgia comedy Baywatch and the action-packed San Andreas.
Now, Alexandra Daddario is a part of Anne Rice’s universe in the long-awaited adaptation based on one of the author’s most beloved storylines. Before she died in late 2021, the writer said in an interview that she was thrilled to have her two best series united under the same production company. From the looks of the trailer, Mayfair Witches seems like it will do justice to the supernatural New Orleans family.
