Ahsoka Season 2 Recasting Ray Stevenson?
Star Wars is a huge franchise, filled with shows or movies to entertain pretty much everyone. Ahsoka is one such show, focused on Ahsoka Tano as she tries to prevent the Empire from coming back together. Due to the unexpected death of Ray Stevenson, who played Baylan Skoll, there may be a recasting, or an adjustment of the plot when it comes to Ahsoka Season 2.
Noted Leakers Shed Some Light
While fans have apparently already accepted the fact that Stevenson is being replaced for Ahsoka Season 2, there hasn’t been any confirmation of this being the case as of yet. A scooper, Daniel Richtman, mentioned that it’s possible Skoll might be recast down the line and that the team is looking for “a white man in his 50s/60s” to take the role.
However, there’s been no official announcement from the team or their spokesperson either confirming or denying this rumor for Ahsoka Season 2.
The Future Of Baylan Skoll
Ahsoka, a part of the Star Wars universe, is set after the fall of the Galactic Empire in Return of the Jedi. Ahsoka Tano joins up with a cast of characters from Star Wars Rebels to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn from uniting the remnants of the Empire against the New Republic.
During the first season, Ahsoka introduced a new character named Baylan Skoll, who was played by Ray Stevenson. Skoll is an evil former Jedi who was hinted to play an important role in Ahsoka Season 2 and beyond.
Fans Didn’t Know What To Expect
Ray Stevenson was an impressive actor known for his roles in Rome and Punisher: War Zone. Unfortunately, in May 2023, he passed away at the age of 58. This occurred even before Ahsoka Season 1 premiered, and the team has been rather silent on their plans for the next season, especially concerning Skoll.
Many were left wondering what Ahsoka Season 2 would do with Skoll. Quite a few fans assumed that, because of the unfortunate passing of Stevenson, the team would simply look for a new actor.
Fancasting
No new actor has been announced yet for Ahsoka Season 2, but fans on Reddit have brought up a few potential actors to replace him. One such option is Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) due to their similar builds and heights. Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones) was also suggested due to his acting, though not necessarily his build.
The Wait For Ahsoka Season 2
Part of the lack of announcement could be because there’s not a lot of general information about the second season. While Ahsoka Season 2 has been green-lit, as of May 2024, production on the series hasn’t even started yet. At the earliest, it seems likely Ahsoka Season 2 will be out near the end of 2025, but 2026 is also well within the realm of possibility.
More Star Wars On The Way
However, you don’t have to worry about not seeing enough Star Wars while waiting for Ahsoka Season 2. There are several continuations and new TV shows and movies coming out from the franchise, including Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Andor Season 2, The Mandalorian & Grogu, Dawn of the Jedi, and another movie as part of the New Jedi Order. While a lot about Ahsoka is up in the air at the moment, there’s no denying that Star Wars as a whole isn’t planning on slowing down any time soon.
