Exclusive: Agatha Marvel Series Delayed To 2025
The Agatha Marvel series is being pushed back to 2025.
Update: Agatha All Along is premiering on Disney+ September 18, 2024
Many are starting to feel superhero “fatigue” which also includes one of the bigger purveyors of the genre, Marvel. Through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that the Agatha: Coven of Chaos Marvel series is now being delayed to 2025. This is not at all shocking, as the MCU brass has been reportedly not happy with how Phase Four has panned out, so the company is shifting to provide more “quality over quantity” for the Phase Five and Six plans.
The Agatha Marvel series is arguably one of the most anticipated titles that fans are genuinely excited about, however, not seeing this series for another few years is not the worst news. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been steadily releasing shows and movies for a bit too long at this point, and some have been rather lacking in terms of their overall stories. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever aside, the MCU needs some definite reshuffling.
The Agatha Marvel series was meant to be part of the Phase Five rollout and was aimed to be released in the fall of 2023, or in early 2024. However, now that the series is being pushed back by another year or so, it could mean that Marvel has grander plans for what is going to take place within the story of the series. We would imagine those plans could involve the Scarlet Witch, as it has been rumored that she is set to return to the MCU sooner rather than later.
Agatha played a big part in the WandaVision story, and Marvel is likely now wanting to bring Kathryn Hahn back in a much bigger way. She was the villain behind making Wanda feel like she couldn’t live without her fake children and life in Westview. However, now that the MCU has also turned her into an obsessive psychopath, Wanda’s psycho spell can once again be linked back to Agatha.
Another big reason for the Agatha Marvel series being pushed back has everything to do with the number of releases that we have been seeing over the past couple of years, which has undoubtedly led to Marvel Studios wanting to take a big step back. A staggering seven movies and eight shows have been released since 2021. This has led to a drop in quality that has been felt by the studio and fans alike.
Granted, 2023 is going to still bring Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3, and The Marvels to theaters, but those might just be the bigger stories that are needed to tie into this new Multiverse Saga more than other properties. The shows slated for next year were Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Daredevil: Born Again, Secret Invasion, Echo, Loki Season 2, Ironheart, and X-Men ’97, making for what would have been another huge Marvel release slate. Everything is arguably important to the grand story happening, except for X-Men ’97.
While it might be a bit of a bummer that Agatha is being pushed back in favor of other Marvel releases, it could end up being the best move possible. Maybe now the VFX workers will not be overworked and will provide us with some great magic battles. We want to see Wanda vs Agatha again.
