Agatha: Darkhold Diaries Releases Revealing First Look That Drops Big Hint
Now that Loki’s second season has come and gone, many Marvel fans are waiting for the next big streaming hit to land on Disney+. While the arrival of Daredevil: Born Again may be up in the air, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is still on track to arrive on the platform next year. In our first real look at the series, in a behind-the-scenes clip released by Marvel, viewers see Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha chatting with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, with some noticing something a little extra.
While there’s a lot to catch in this short but sweet video, according to Yahoo! Entertainment, fans dedicated to the cause of finding Easter eggs and clues about the upcoming series pointed out what they believe to be the Witches’ Road. Many now believe that this scene, and possibly others in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, will see the titular powerful witch taking a stroll down the dimly lit cobble-stone road. It’s a real blink and you’ll miss it moment, so don’t feel bad if it was a shot that eluded you during your first watch-through.
The Witches’ Road
A deep dive into the heart of Marvel lore, the Witches’ Road first made itself seen in a Scarlet Witch comic from 2016. It’s considered to be a sacred place among those magically-inclined folks as it’s a place where only those wielding that kind of power can walk. What makes the shot of the Witches’ Road so exciting for eager Agatha: Darkhold Diaries fans is that it may point to the return of a seemingly dead MCU character.
There are a lot of routes that Marvel could take with the Witches’ Road, but the dedicated Wanda, aka Scarlet Witch fandom, is hoping that they’ll see the beloved character again following her presumed death in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. What this could mean for Agatha: Darkhold Diaries viewers goes beyond just the return of Wanda but could point to the mystery surrounding Joe Locke’s (Heartstopper) character.
While Marvel has previously stood by its claim that Locke will be appearing in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries as nothing more than a familiar, fans are beginning to speculate that he’ll actually appear as Wiccan. For those who may not know, Wiccan is one of the sons of Vision and Scarlet Witch who has been brought to life and given the abilities of impressive magical powers. Should this be the case, it could point to Locke playing an even bigger role in the MCU as one of the new members of the younger Avengers team that we’ve seen begin to form via shows and films.
As for what we know to expect from Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, the wonderfully talented Kathryn Hahn will, of course, be reprising her role of Agatha, a character made famous in the celebrated series, WandaVision. Joining her will be a handful of other familiar WandaVision faces including Debra Jo Rupp (That ‘70s Show) and Emma Caulfield Ford (Buffy the Vampire Slayer.) Joining the group of newbies along with Joe Locke will be Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Patti LuPone (Beau is Afraid), Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live), and Ali Ahn (The Diplomat).
