Agatha All Along Reactions Make New Marvel Series Sound Unmissable

By Doug Norrie | Published

Is Agatha All Along set to be another hit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+? It’s sure starting to look that way, with some early reactions trending overwhelmingly positive for the upcoming series.

While it remains to be seen how everything plays out, based on the early reactions, there’s been an early groundswell of support for the show.

Agatha All Along Reactions

Following the red carpet screening of Agatha All Along, plenty of critics jumped on social media to share some first thoughts, and they were overwhelmingly positive.

On Twitter/ X, @Shayhbaz from The Movies podcast said, “#AgathaAllAlong will leave you SPELLBOUND. The first 4 episodes bring scares, laughs, pop culture references & some of the BEST MUSIC in MCU history! Kathryn Hahn cackles her way through with her coven of witches & I can’t wait to see how it unfolds! It’s the PERFECT fall show!”

The Perfect Show?

Also, from The Movies Podcast, Daniel Baptista wrote about Agatha All Along, “…the PERFECT show for the spooky season and filled with BIG WITCH ENERGY. Kathryn Hahn is as iconic as ever…”

Of course, this is high praise for a series, though it’s easy to see why things would trend this way, considering the overall cast and vibe of the show. Even from early looks, it appears a hit.

Fantastic Cast

Other Agatha All Along reactions filtered in with Michael Patterson commenting on Kathryn Hahn’s “force” and calling the rest of the cast “divine”.

Plus he added that Joe Locke is a “gem” and this character could have a place in the larger MCU going forward.

Other Agatha All Along early reviews included ScreenRant’s Joseph Deckelmeier, who called the show, “…insanely fun and engaging.”

An MCU Standout?

While it might not be your typical Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero fare, Agatha All Along fits in the timeline following WandaVision, which also took its own creative path when first released in 2021.

That series put Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany’s Vision in Westview, New Jersey’s suburban idyllic television setting and slowly unwound reality episode by episode.

Kathryn Hahn As Agatha

Agatha All Along

At the heart of it was Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha, who started the series as nothing more than a nosy neighbor. But as the season progressed, we learn that Agatha is much more than she seems.

In fact, she’s a witch from 17th century Salem, Massachusetts. Seems she actually took out her whole coven while trying to get hands on some supremely dark magic.

She manipulated the world of Westview in order to unlock some of Wanda’s magic for herself.

That’s the issue at hand in Agatha All Along.

In the end of WandaVision, Agatha is defeated, locked inside her own Westview prison. Agatha All Along picks up where things left off and Agatha teams up with Joe Locke’s teen, a familiar who is an assistant in Agatha’s coven.

There’s speculation that this Agatha All Along character is actually Billy Kaplan or Wiccan, a Marvel character whose origin story started as a reincarnation of Wanda and Vision’s children.

Aubrey Plaza also has a role in the series as Rio Vidal, another witch in Agatha’s coven

Agatha All Along will have this group, and more on the Witches’ Road, which shakes out as a series of magical trials. The series is set to premiere on Disney+ on September 18, 2024
