Adele Offers To Buy Sylvester Stallone’s House But Demands One Iconic Piece Of Memorabilia
Adele refused to buy Sylvester Stallone's house if it didn't include the Rocky statue.
Who knew that Adele was such a huge Rocky fan? According to Deadline, the famous British pop artist is not only a big fan of the Sylvester Stallone boxing series, but she’s so die-hard that she swindled the actor into giving up an iconic piece of memorabilia—the Rocky statue that sits poolside at Stallone’s Beverly Park home.
Apparently, the “Skyfall” singer was in the process of purchasing Sylvester Stallone’s home in Beverly Park, Los Angeles, when the actor mentioned he was planning on keeping the statue—something that was a pretty big deal breaker for the Grammy-winning artist. Adele made her terms plain and clear: either she buys the house with the statue included, or Stallone was going to miss out on the sale.
Despite Sylvester Stallone’s strong attachment to the statue, he ended up agreeing to the singer’s terms, and the pair signed the contract. Now, Adele is not only the proud new owner of a beautiful and luxurious Beverly Park mansion in Los Angeles, but she’s also the owner of the iconic Rocky poolside statue.
According to Sylvester Stallone, there are no hard feelings between the two, and the actor even stated that he likes what Adele is doing with her new pad, stating that she’s “making it gorgeous.”
Sylvester Stallone is now a Hollywood legend, and it’s all because of Rocky. The 76-year-old actor first donned the gloves of Rocky Balboa in the 1976 film Rocky, a blockbuster directed by John G. Avildsen and written by Stallone himself. The film’s immense success generated a series of movies throughout the 1980s, culminating in Rocky V in 1990.
Despite the end of the series, Sylvester Stallone would end up reprising the role 16 years later in 2006’s Rocky Balboa, when the franchise was greenlit for a sixth movie. However, the iconic series didn’t stop there. 11 years after the sixth film came out, Stallone broke out the gloves once more to play his beloved character in the critically acclaimed spin-off, Creed, starring Michael B. Jordan.
Sylvester Stallone’s unwavering dedication to the Rocky franchise was evident when he vehemently opposed the production of a spin-off centered around Drago, Rocky’s formidable opponent. The original producer, Irwin Winkler, faced Stallone’s wrath as the actor publicly expressed his frustrations on the internet last year, posting fiery words that called out the producer directly.
Dolph Lundgren, the actor who portrayed Drago, joined the fray, expressing his surprise at the situation, claiming he thought that the film had Sylvester Stallone’s blessing. Despite the controversy, the spin-off film is still reportedly underway at MGM, with Lundgren caught in the rift between the producers and his friend, Stallone.
While the drama surrounding the Rocky franchise continues to unfold, Adele stands tall as the latest fan to enter the ring and emerge champion. As she takes on the renovation of Sylvester Stallone’s former mansion, one thing is for certain—Rocky’s statue will remain proudly guarded by a devoted admirer who knows that this statue is more than just movie memorabilia, it’s a symbol of tenacity and inspiration.
