See The First Look at Adam Sandler’s New Ridiculous Netflix Movie
Adam Sandler’s new movie, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, is scheduled to hit Netflix later this month, and the film’s official trailer reveals the whole Sandler family teaming up with other Hollywood greats to bring this new Netflix coming-of-age comedy to life.
Adam Sandler’s new Netflix film also features his real-life wife, Jackie, and their children, Sadie and Sunny. As per the trailer, the upcoming film’s narrative follows the story of young Stacey Friedman as she prepares for her bat mitzvah—a coming-of-age ritual in Judaism, after which the children begin to be held accountable for their own actions according to Jewish law.
However, her plans for her big day go to waste when she catches her best friend kissing her crush, Andy Goldfarb, after which she un-invites her best friend from her bat mitzvah ceremony.
The trailer for Adam Sandler’s new Netflix comedy provides glimpses into what’s to come; Stacy is very disappointed in her now ex-best friend and resorts to spreading rumors to get back at her friend for betraying her.

So, while the film provides the audiences with insight into the Jewish coming-of-age experience, its also a typical middle school drama that speaks about what it’s like being a thirteen-year-old in the modern age—fun and exhilarating for the majority of the time, but every now and then an event blindsides you on a Tuesday morning, leaving you with tightening feelings in your stomach.
When Does You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah Release?
The movie, which also stars Luis Guzmán, Ido Mosseri, and Saturday Night Live’s Sarah Sherman, as well as Samantha Lorraine, Dylan Hoffman, Dean Scott Vazquez, Miya Cech, Ivory Baker, Dylan Dash, Millie Thorpe, and Zaara Kuttemperoor, is scheduled to release later this month on August 25. It’s based on Fiona Rosenbloom’s coming-of-age novel of the same name, with Alison Peck adapting the screenplay and Sammi Cohen directing Adam Sandler’s new Netflix movie.
This is somewhat reminiscent of Grown Ups, another Adam Sandler comedy film that tells the story of five lifelong friends who reunite three decades after they won their junior high school basketball championship in 1978. While Grown Ups! doesn’t focus on coming-of-age themes directly, it embeds such themes within the context of middle-aged adulthood, the reflection on youth, personal growth, and parenting challenges—showing that maturation is an ongoing process that doesn’t necessarily stop when one reaches adulthood.
The Sandlerverse
Adam Sandler’s You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is the latest entry in Netflix’s so-called “Sandlerverse”—we honestly thought we’d never see the day, but we’re glad that the day has come—and the latest project in Sandler’s current $250 million Netflix deal.
The actor-comedian has produced eight astonishing movie titles for Netflix, ranging from The Ridiculous Six, a parody of Westerns, to Sandy Wexler and his acclaimed stand-up special titled 100% Fresh, which has an excellent rating at review aggregation websites.
You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah seems like a fantastic addition to the King of Comedy‘s ongoing Sandlerverse; the movie is scheduled to drop on Netflix on August 25.
