Adam Sandler Got Punched By One Of His Costars And Then Cried
Mark Strong hit Adam Sandler so hard on the set of Murder Mystery 2 that it brought tears to Sandler's eyes.
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston have been close friends for many decades, which means that the We’re the Millers star is allowed to share embarrassing stories about the Little Nicky star on national television. And that’s exactly what Aniston did on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she shared that Sandler got punched in the face by Mark Strong on the set of Murder Mystery 2 so hard it made him cry, according to Just Jared.
Jennifer Aniston first met Adam Sandler via a buddy of his whom she was dating when they were teenagers. The two were unknown actors at the time and bonded over pickles at Jerry’s Deli in Los Angeles. Likely, neither of them knew that they had just begun a friendship that would last a lifetime and include adventures like the pair of them starring alongside each other in multiple romantic comedies.
The most recent of these romantic comedies is Murder Mystery 2, the sequel to the 2019 Netflix film that saw a New York cop named Nick Spitz (Adam Sandler) and his wife, Audrey Spitz (Jennifer Aniston), try to rekindle their marriage on a European vacation that turns into a murder solving extravaganza. In the second film, which will release later this month, Nick and Audrey have become full-time detectives who are struggling to get their P.I. agency off the ground and must solve the mystery of an abducted friend.
According to Aniston, both she and Adam Sandler did their own stunts for Murder Mystery 2, which is how the fateful, tear-jerking punch occurred. Per Aniston, Sandler was doing a scene with Mark Strong (who plays a character named Miller in the film) where Strong throws a punch at Sandler. In the movies, actors aren’t supposed to actually get hit (though stunt accidents happen all the time anyway), and evidently, Sandler didn’t move in time and received the full impact of Strong’s hit right in the face.
Aniston, who was there to witness the entire incident, said that she saw Adam Sandler take the hit, which was apparently pretty hard, and saw the tears swell in Sandler’s eyes. Apparently, this wasn’t the only injury the Blended star faced on set because, according to Aniston, Sandler got “pretty beat up.” However, it is the only incident that she recounted while on the show.
While Aniston certainly seems to like to tease her co-star, she also speaks very fondly of her old friend. According to the Horrible Bosses 2 star, she and Adam Sandler take care of each other. The actress said Sandler is “so concerned with taking care of everybody else, which he really does, and he doesn’t take care of himself,” so she does it for him.
Aniston explained that while they’re filming together, she keeps a box of herbs in her trailer and makes Adam Sandler smoothies to keep him healthy. She also turns to Eastern medicine to help the actor when he is exhausted.
It’s honestly very refreshing to see two old friends who have remained close for so many years, even as the pair separately grew their careers from non-existence into international superstardom. We look forward to seeing the old pals together on screen again in Murder Mystery 2 and hope they continue to remain close friends for many years to come.
