Zendaya is a history-making level of film and television star, so it is not all that surprising that she would look back to history for some of her best looks. A Zendaya fan account posted an image of the Dune star to Twitter in which she is wearing a stylish, retro outfit of a pencil skirt and a short-sleeve polo-style black top. The image comes from the Euphoria FYC (For Your Consideration; entertainment events meant to promote a project for award shows) Event in Los Angeles.
In the image posted by Style Files, Zendaya is posing in a black and white checkered pencil skirt from the Schiaparelli Fall 2021 line, latched at the hip with a small golden padlock. Her shoes are Christian Louboutin So Kate pumps (the shoes made synonymous with uptown elegance by HBO’s Sex and the City), while her tight-fitting top is buttoned to the neck. Zendaya’s brown hair is upswept away from her face, and all-in-all, she is the image of timeless sophistication.
That should be no surprise. Zendaya is known for her fashion-forward sensibilities, as able to rock a casual, rugged look for filming science fiction epics in the desert as she is to rock a retro-futuristic Barbarella look (though that role is going to one of her Euphoria co-stars) or whatever exactly this odd but still alluring dress might be. Of course, because reliability is one of the key metrics for stardom these days, you cannot stop Zendaya from just taking a break in the middle of the street, even if she is dressed in a full ballgown.
Until last week, Zendaya was officially in principal photography for Dune: Part Two, the sequel to the acclaimed 2021 science fiction film by Denis Villeneuve. Reportedly, her character Chani will have a much large role in the second movie, even being described as a co-protagonist along with Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. The second film will also be bringing in a whole host of new stars, including Léa Seydoux as a highly-placed Bene Gesserit, Austin Butler as Paul’s new nemesis Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, Florence Pugh as the literary-minded Princess Irulan, and Christopher Walken in the role he was born for, Shaddam IV, the Emperor of the Known Universe.
Zendaya will also be returning to the role of troubled teen Rue Bennett in the upcoming third season of the HBO hit teen drama Euphoria, along with fellow troubled teen actors Sydney Sweeney and Maude Apatow. The critically acclaimed show is also one of HBO’s most controversial and lurid, so we will have to see exactly how troubled and dark it gets this time around.
Finally, Zendaya will be starring in the tennis drama Challengers from director Luca Guadagnino, who most recently made the romantic cannibal drama Bones and All with her Dune co-star Timothee Chalamet. Zendaya is also known for her role as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there is no confirmation of if and when she might be returning to hang out with Spider-Man.
