Euphoria star Zendaya recently won her second Emmy award this year. Her win makes her the first black woman to earn an Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series on two occasions. The actress celebrated by sitting in her gorgeous ball gown in the middle of the street.

Hopefully, Zendaya didn’t fall in sheer shock and happiness (looking at you, Jennifer Lawrence). Whatever and whoever made her sit in the middle of the street clearly didn’t faze the actress. She looks absolutely stunning, showing off her Emmy as construction work is happening nearby.

As mentioned, Zendaya became the first black woman to achieve such a monumental feat at the Emmys for her role as Rue Bennett in the HBO hit series Euphoria. In addition to having its lead actress nominated for a huge award, the show was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, getting edged out by another HBO drama, Succession. HBO is so full of win right now that the loss for Euphoria probably didn’t even register with the executives in charge.

It wasn’t all smiles and flowers for the 26-year-old star. Zendaya’s mom supposedly ran into trouble with security while trying to hug her daughter before her acceptance speech. After the security guard asked the mom for her credentials, she answered with “I’m Zendaya’s mom” and walked away like a badass.

Euphoria was renewed for a third season ahead of the season 2 finale in February. The show received 25 nominations at this year’s Emmys and won 6 of them. Zendaya’s Emmy win adds more to the 26-year-old’s already impressive resume.

The series centers on Zendaya’s Rue Bennett, who’s described as a recovering drug addict struggling to find her place in the world. It premiered on June 16, 2019, with an average rating of 577,000 viewers. The first season had the most viewers in the 18-49 demo range compared to all other HBO shows.

Much of Zendaya’s current star power has a lot to do with the popularity of the teen drama. According to Variety, the series at one point became the most tweeted show of the decade in the U.S. By the end of its second season; it became the second most watched HBO show of all time behind Game of Thrones.

During her acceptance speech, Zendaya thanked the cast and crew of the hit HBO series. Zendaya said she hoped the series “could help people heal.” Her boyfriend, Tom Holland, likely missed the ceremony due to his current filming schedule.

As for where Zendaya goes now that she’s a two-time Emmy award winner, the actress has a lot of upcoming projects she’s attached to. In addition to her role in Euphoria, she’s also featured in director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two. The film is set to release in theaters on November 2023.

Then, of course, there is Zendaya’s role as MJ in the Spider-Man franchise opposite her boyfriend, Tom Holland. There’s no word on when fans can expect the new Spider-Man movie, though they can be sure Marvel and Sony are developing the anticipated sequel as of this writing.
