  • Best Series: Battlestar Galactica

Fans of the beloved Battlestar Galactica reboot who haven’t been paying attention may be wondering what happened to Tricia Helfer, who had her first breakout role on the show as Six. But Battlestar Galactica’s Number Six Cylon is still working, just maybe not on the kinds of geeky projects science fiction fans would have seen.

TRICIA HELFER IS ON INSTAGRAM

Tricia Helfer does share a fair bit of her life on Instagram, putting up videos and pics of a variety of different situations. She has more than one million followers on the social media platform and there’s plenty of engagement in that respect. Including the above post in which she laments about the lack of mascara, there are others in which she is sharing different beauty products as well.

And the actress didn’t shy away from showing some skin either with a bikini shot over the summer.

TRICIA HELFER STARRED ON BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

Six

Since breaking into Hollywood back in 2000, the talented and extremely easy on the eyes Tricia Helfer has built herself a nice resume. Canadian-born, the 5’10” tall Helfer Helfer began her career as a Canadian cover girl model, then turned her eye toward acting and hasn’t looked back.

Her big start came early on in her career after Helfer appeared in a couple of TV series (Jeremiah and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation). She soon put herself on the map as she starred in the role she’s probably most known for, Number Six on Battlestar Galactica. The mini-series came first and with such a positive reaction to it, Battlestar Galactica was then brought back as a series with Helfer reprising her role as the wonderfully seductive Number Six and appearing in each of the four seasons and 73 episodes.

The popularity of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica and the simple fact that Helfer was sizzling hot in it allowed for her to expand her roles. She made a name for herself on BSG but her ability to jump into diverse roles made her quite the star on the small screen.

Tricia Helfer began to pull in parts on many, many notable TV series. She grabbed a great role on the series Burn Notice, playing Carla Baxter who, in fact, was behind the burn notice given to series star Jeffrey Donovan (Michael) so she could get him to do her dirty work. It was a juicy role that Helfer played with delight.

From there, Helfer found herself in various other guest-starring roles. She starred in the pilot for Human Target (didn’t get picked up), Dark Blue with Dylan McDermott that lasted two seasons, and more guest-starring roles in series such as Lie To Me, The Whole Truth, No Ordinary Family and a few episodes on the hit Two and a Half Men. In 2014 she played Molly Parker on the series Killer Women.

Tricia Helfer’s diverse resume didn’t just allow her to only pick up roles on various TV series, no, she also made a handful of TV movies which include Mistletoe Over Manhattan, 17th Precinct, Dangerous Intuition, and Finding Christmas.

Believe it or not, Helfer also has a strong resume when it comes to voice acting. She has lent her chops to many animated series such as Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated and Green Lantern: First Flight as well as doing voice work for various big video games like Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Halo 3: ODST, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, and Mortal Kombat X.

SHE PLAYED THE DEVIL ON LUCIFER

Tricia Helfer is now old enough to need reading glasses…

But not old enough to slow her career down at all. Helfer continues to pull in fantastic roles on the small screen, both TV movies and TV series as well as continuing her great voice work.

Tricia Helfer’s biggest recent role is playing the mother of the Devil on the Netflix hit Lucifer. She played that key role for two seasons then saw her character banished. But the good word is that in the upcoming Lucifer season five, Helfer makes her return to the role of Lucifer’s mommy.

Helfer is also currently starring as one of literature’s most famous character, Dracula in the SYFY horror series Van Helsing.

And as if that’s not enough, she just got signed to star in the next season of the Starz series Step Up. The show is a TV version of the popular Step Up dance movies. The show originally started as a YouTube Red series where it ran for two seasons. Starz has picked it up for the show’s third season.

We know Tricia Helfer will play someone named “Erin” on the show, but nothing on who “Erin” is. Since Tricia is 46 it’s probably safe to assume she’ll be a coach or a parent or something. Actually, it seems like a pretty strange fit for Helfer, it’s hard to imagine her hanging out with a “dance crew”. It’ll be interesting to see where she fits in.

TRICIA HELFER KEEPS IN TOUCH WITH THE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA CREW

And every now and then Tricia still gets together with her old friends from the days aboard Battlestar Galactica…

So, while Battlestar Gallactica and Number Six may be a distant memory for some, Helfer continues to carve out a wonderful acting career full of diversity, fun, and sex appeal. Turn on the TV and chances are you’ll run into her.

LUCIFER IS NO LONGER RUNNING

For over half of Lucifer’s six seasons, Tricia Helfer played Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) mother/Charlotte Richards. It was a role that Helfer was born to play and one that saw her put Lucifer in predicament after predicament as he was constantly coming to her rescue. In total, Helfer saw 47 episodes including a brief return in the series finale.

As things were winding down for Helfer on both Lucifer and Van Helsing, 2021 saw her guest star on an episode of the popular TV series The Rookie that stars Nathan Fillion. So far this year, Helfer has two projects, the first being comedy Spin Me Around.

The film stars Helfer alongside Alison Brie (Community), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Molly Shannon, and Fred Armisen. After that, it is another guest-starring role on the series Step Up: High Water on Starz, and the recently announced action/sci-fi film, Occupation Rainfall: Chapter 2 that will also be starring Jason Isaacs and Danny Trejo.

SHE WAS IN CRAZY CAT LADY

Tricia Helfer has never been shy about posting anything and everything to her social media accounts. She is very active on Twitter and just as much on Instagram. Just recently Helfer spent nearly 40 minutes on Instagram conducting a Q&A with all her fans. So, if you want to learn more about Helfer’s comings and goings, check out her Instagram post.

One thing you will see when you venture over to Tricia Helfer’s Instagram is the love affair she is having with cats. The two we saw during her Q&A were Rigby and Fiona but more than just a loving cat owner, Helfer is also part of a recently released documentary titled, Crazy Cat Lady.

The film follows a number of Los Angeles residents (including Helfer) who are trying to find solutions to the feral cat crisis seen across the city. These residents go out to trap the wild cats, help get them spayed and neutered, and also adopt as many as possible. Kudos to Helfer and to all involved in doing what they can to help alleviate this troubling issue.
