Chaos, apparently, as demand for tickets to her Eras Tour crashed the Ticketmaster website, according to Variety. The presale was supposed to begin on November 15, but demand was so great that the ticket service crashed and revisions needed to be made about when fans could buy.
The first problems were reported around 9:30 a.m EST, but the delay continued throughout the day as Ticketmaster struggled to deal with the influx. In a follow-up post to their initial announcement about it, the service assured buyers on Twitter at 1:05 p.m. EST that they were still working on it. The tweet also advised that users who had been queued for Taylor Swift tickets would maintain their spot and that those who had already obtained tickets were all set for the show.
The massive interest in Taylor Swift’s tour also postponed a Capital One special offer on the pre-sale tickets, which will take place tomorrow, November 16 at 2 p.m. local venue time instead of its scheduled time. The codes and offers connected to this event will still work, but the volume has been so intense that it could not be handled in conjunction with the sale. Fans are urged to queue up according to the time zone of the venue they plan to attend.
Another delay that affected how the Taylor Swift tickets are sold is for venues on the West Coast. Fans in Los Angeles, Santa Clara, Seattle, and Las Vegas had to wait until 6 p.m. EST/3 p.m. PST to purchase their tickets so Ticketmaster could get ahead of the queues preceding them. Taylor Swift’s tour is hitting 52 venues, but the postponement of the West Coast sales represents millions of tickets and gives the service time to process the thousands-long queues for the other venues.
Taylor Swift’s Era Tour is her first in four years because her previous tour, Lovers Fest, was canceled last year due to the pandemic, making Eras her first concert tour since Reputation. This long delay between appearances seems to have made fans hungry to see her live, especially since she recently released her “Midnights” album, which has been a hit with audiences and critics alike. The songs from “Midnights” earned the artist the distinction of being the first to hold all 10 Billboard top spots at the same time in a single week.
Fans of Taylor Swift can still obtain tickets using Ticketmaster, using the guidelines they set forth in order to handle the massive interest in the show. Tickets are priced from $49 to $449, and VIP packages range from $199 to $899.
