In the eight months she has been touring, Swift sold 4.3 million tickets with an average price of $238.95 per ticket.

While you might think that costly ticket prices would have contributed to Taylor Swift’s earth-shattering record, her tickets are actually only the fifth most expensive show this year. In addition to breaking revenue records, Swift also broke numerous stadium records, such as the highest three-day attendance totals at New Jersey’s MetLife and Dallas’ AT&T Stadium, with single-day records at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium, and Lumen Field.

To put Taylor Swift’s rapid rise to $1 billion in perspective, Elton John’s recent Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour previously held the record with $939 million. However, Elton achieved that record with 328 shows over the course of five years, which is over five times as many shows as Swift. Needless to say, it’s certainly an unprecedented record for the music industry, though it won’t come as much of a surprise for anyone who has been paying attention to the zeitgeist this year.

Taylor Swift is currently dominating multiple forms of media, as her Eras Tour concert movie recently hit theaters and set some records of its own. Both domestically and worldwide, her concert film quickly became the highest-grossing concert film of all time. Not only that, but even the NFL is getting a boost in ratings from Swift thanks to her reported relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
