NFTs are certainly all the rage right now. While it’s a bit tough to explain without being fully into what blockchain technology is and can do, the NFT is essentially an online digital piece of artwork. Owning these NFTs and trading them has become something that leaves people divided. Some realize that cryptocurrency and trading in a digital market is the wave of the future and others believe that it’s all a waste of time and money. However, whatever you happen to land on in the discussion, a ton of celebrities have gone in on the NFT game. One such person is that of action film star Sylvester Stallone. Through his PlanetSly website, Sly himself has created some 9,997 NFTs for sale.
These NFTs are known as “SlyGuys” and will come with some highly exclusive rights when purchased. Some of those rights include a gala dinner, movie premieres, exclusive events, and an afterparty in Miami with Sylvester Stallone. Sly will also be signing 25 of the rarest NFTs available for purchase. While the acquisition of the NFTs might not sound too bad, the way in which fans will be invited to purchase them is what makes this situation all a bit odd. According to the press release, fans and NFT collectors must show their “SlyLove” by posting to any of the social media channels showing how big of a fan of Stallone they are. This could be done via an impression, artwork, performance, or a confession about how Sly has changed your life. Through that, fans will be given an invitation-only presale for the NFTs.
The huge NFT sale is said to take place in April, and the collection of these digital artworks is said to have been designed by Sylvester Stallone himself, or rather he is said to be completely hands-on in the creative process. The SlyGuyus will include NFTs and IRL collectibles. At least with owning one of those NFTs, one can have the tangible collectible that comes along with it. This SlyGuys line is said to follow the illustrious career of Stallone. This collection is said to be designed to signify the man a man who rose from nothing to create Rocky and become one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and one who has had a #1 movie in the last consecutive six decades. This entire venture was created by Stallone and his business partner, Bill Zanker.
While this entire NFT craze certainly seems controversial in nature, it has brought in collectors of all kinds. Brie Larson also recently revealed her Metaverse space and NFT collection, which led fans to attack her on Twitter. There is no telling how the public is going to react to Sylvester Stallone releasing his own line of digital artwork. Then again, the man has been appearing in films since the 1970s, so maybe he has paid his dues enough for people to just not care as much. He is in the MCU as well, so maybe that won’t be true. Either way, PlanetSly is the website that fans of NFTs and Stallone should look at in case they are attempting to secure one of these rare but also plentiful pieces of artwork.
