Sydney Sweeney is currently as famous for appearing on red carpets at events like the Venice Film Festival and modeling gorgeous outfits for luxury brands like Armani as she is for acting on hit shows like Euphoria and The White Lotus. However, her most recent social media post sees the actress out posing on red sands instead of carpet, with a photoset of Sydney Sweeney proudly showing off a weather-appropriate outfit somewhere in the Sahara Desert. This Instagram post sees Sydney Sweeney rocking a tight white tank top with matching high-waisted shorts, as well as a sensible pair of hiking boots.

The caption for Sydney Sweeney’s Instagram post only gives us two dromedary emojis flanking a yellow heart, so it is not exactly clear what the HBO star is doing in the Sahara, but it does seem like she is making the most of it. The second picture in the set shows an old-fashioned canvas director’s chair with the name SYDNEY emblazoned on it, so it can be guessed that she is out there for some kind of film production (unless Academy Award-winning director Sydney Pollack is on location and/or back from the day). The third photo concludes the trilogy by showing a now-hatless Sydney Sweeney gazing back at a truck cresting a sand dune behind her, so at least we know she’s not still stuck out there.

Sydney Sweeney currently has several announced films in production, which makes it fun to speculate why she might be out in the harsh sands of North Africa. Could the upcoming Sony Pictures Madame Web movie with Fifty Shades of Grey’s Dakota Johnson and Severance’s Adam Scott have a desert interlude? Perhaps there is some crossover between two of Sony’s periodic attempts to build a comic book universe using Spider-Man-adjacent characters but not Spider-Man himself, and Sydney Sweeney is there to meet Kraven the Hunter on safari (Aaron Taylor-Johnson)?

Or perhaps it could have something to do with the recent announcement that Sydney Sweeney will be starring in (and executive producing) a remake of the cult classic 1968 science fiction film Barbarella, which originally starred Jane Fonda. Given that the remake of the Roger Vadim comic book adaptation (which featured winged alien angels and inspired the name of a classic 1980s New Wave band) seems to be still in development, it might not be that, but hopefully, we get to see some trippy alien landscapes in the new Barbarella.

Sydney Sweeney will be returning to HBO for the upcoming third season of Euphoria, in which she plays the troubled high schooler Cassie Howard. The critically acclaimed series also stars fellow Spider-Man adjacent actress Zendaya, Maude Apatow, and Angus Cloud. While Sydney Sweeney was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her role in the first season of the similarly acclaimed HBO series The White Lotus, she is not returning to the upcoming second season, which is set in Italy. However, it looks like Sydney Sweeney is still managing to get her world travel in without a vacation resort show to star on.
