Sydney Sweeney is steaming up Instagram in her latest post. The Euphoria actress looks pretty and polished in a sexy schoolgirl outfit, complete with a sleek black blazer and black bow over a white-collared shirt. Her short skirt and knee-high socks (one with white stripes) go great with her chunky heels, and finishing touches like gold barrettes and a sparkly puppy dog purse bring the whole look together.
In the first of the two pictures, she is smoldering at the camera in a close-up, and in the second she is swinging her bag playfully. The caption reads “sag panel x euphoria back to school reunion,” so the outfit serves two purposes. The school on her hit HBO show isn’t one that requires uniforms, but they may just reconsider that after seeing the actress’ glamorous but youthful look in her post.
According to Elle, Sydney Sweeney is well-known for her eye-popping style. She tends to use “a mix of classy preppy and cool-girl chic with a hint of the super-sultry,” making her one to watch on red carpets and everywhere else. Her fashion choices often inspire envy, but sometimes controversy as well.
At this year’s MTV Movie and TV Awards, for instance, Sydney Sweeney showed up in a throwback outfit that looked like it had come from the closet of Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera circa the year 2000. A low-cut, short-cropped pink shirt ended just beneath her breasts, exposing her enviable abs and an even shorter sparkly pink skirt with a slit up the side showed off her sculpted legs.
In a perfect world, people would have ogled the outfit and gone on, but in our world, suddenly the internet was filled with hate for the actress for having the audacity to wear a low-rise skirt and show off her stomach. Since this look isn’t achievable for everyone, some people took to Instagram and other sites to complain that Sydney Sweeney was setting impossible beauty standards for women.
This isn’t the first time that Sydney Sweeney has had to deal with this sort of problem, though. The actress has been in show business since she was a kid, but she was only able to really break out recently because her body developed at an early age. She has been quoted in interviews saying that she got her breasts at age 12, making it hard for her to play children or young teen roles on the screen since she looked more like an adult woman.
Luckily, Sydney Sweeney isn’t letting negativity ruin her moment. She is quickly becoming a household name after working on high-profile projects like Sharp Objects, The Handmaid’s Tale, The White Lotus, and Euphoria. After somewhat of a rough start, she is coming into her own and finally being able to show off the body that made her feel insecure earlier on in her career.
But it’s not all about looks. Sydney Sweeney has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and has made it onto Time magazine’s 100 Next List for 2022 thanks to her acting skills. She is also set to play a supporting role in Madame Web, a new entry in Sony’s Spider-Verse, in 2024.
