Steve Harvey Has A Harsh Response To The Will Smith Slap
Survey says, "hot take!"

Is Will Smith’s Oscars slap old news to you by now? Well apparently Steve Harvey felt left out of the heated discourse because the Family Feud host has decided to throw his hat into the two month old “Should Will Smith have slapped a dude” debate. Not mincing words — while at the same time using way more than he needed to — Harvey called the slap a “punk move” and says he’s “lost a lot of respect” for the King Richard star.
Deadline reports that Steve Harvey recently spoke at Georgia State University when apparently the subject of the slap came up. “I’m a Christian, but I’m really undeveloped,” Harvey said. “I don’t have high-level Christianity. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’m like a 2. That’s the level of Christianity I can work on. You slap T.D. Jakes, he’ll turn the other cheek. You slap me? If you sit back in your seat, Jada [Will’s wife] would have to move out of the way. That’s the type of Christian I am.” This was apparently what Harvey said rather than just, “I’d hit him back,” which would’ve probably saved a lot of time.
Since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars ceremony, the same entertainment industry that gave the Men in Black star a standing ovation at his Best Leading Actor acceptance speech began feeding on him soon after. Not long after Smith resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy handed down a ruling banning the actor from all Academy events for the next ten years including future Academy Awards ceremonies. Netflix canceled Bright 2, Apple TV+ delayed the release of Emancipation, the brakes were slammed on the production of Fast and Loose and Bad Boys 4, and Disney+ delayed the release of the next National Geographic docu-series hosted by Smith, Pole to Pole. The actor has been called out by Judd Apatow, Mia Farrow, Rob Reiner, Jim Carrey, Kathy Griffin, Howard Stern, Chris Rock’s family, and more. But the guy the world was really just dying to hear from, two months after the fact, was Steve Harvey.
Steve Harvey, the former comedian and current game show host whose only current contribution to comedy is often looking surprised at unsurprising things Family Feud contestants say. The man who didn’t physically slap anyone at the 2015 Miss Universe competition, but spiritually dropkicked Ariadna Gutiérrez when he incorrectly announced her as the winner — to be fair he was kind of enough to report his error after Gutiérrez was already crowned. Steve Harvey: the guy who calls atheists stupid because they don’t believe what he does. Steve Harvey, the guy who — as reported by The Root — has allegedly ordered employees to not approach him during the work day. Steve Harvey, the guy who, on his radio show — in response to the caller speaking badly of the Cleveland Cavaliers — told a Flint, Michigan resident to “enjoy” his “nice glass of brown water.” Steve Harvey, the guy on his third wife, who told poor people they’re poor because they sleep too much at night. This is the guy we need to hear from about other people’s character. Survey says “maybe not.”
