Stephen Amell Helps Family Of Arrow Crew Member Who Recently Died
Stephen Amell is backing a GoFundMe campaign that was set up to support the family of David McLean, a crew member who worked on The CW superhero series Arrow for its entire eight-season run. McLean, who recently passed away, left behind a wife and two children. Amell took to social media to commemorate his friend and urged fans to donate.
Stephen Amell Says No Donation Too Small
“There’s no donation too small. The power of us as a collective will have a lasting impact. I appreciate any consideration you can give Linnea, Isla & Mattias. We all miss Dave – he literally kept the lights on,” Stephen Amell wrote alongside his video message.
The GoFundMe initiative, created by David’s wife Linnea McLean, aims to reach CAD 50,000.
“The reality of [Dave’s] absence, compounded by the financial strain of debts and ongoing mortgage, has left us facing an uncertain future,” Linnea McLean said in a statement.
McLean was an integral part of the crew for the majority of Arrow’s eight seasons. The Stephen Amell-led series concluded in 2020, culminating in the aftermath of the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event.
Green Arrow On The CW
Created by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg, Arrow debuted on The CW network in October 2012. The series is based on the DC Comics vigilante superhero, the Green Arrow.
With Stephen Amell in the titular role, the show formed part of the Arrowverse that included other DC Comics-based shows like The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow.
Stephen Amell Is Oliver Queen
The story follows Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), a billionaire playboy who, after being shipwrecked on a mysterious island for five years, returns home to Starling City (later renamed Star City) with a new mission.
Inspired by his experiences on the island and a desire to right the wrongs in his city, Oliver adopts the alter ego of “The Hood” and later becomes the Green Arrow.
Throughout the series, Oliver (Stephen Amell) faces a variety of adversaries, both in the present and through flashbacks to his time on the island.
As Green Arrow, he fights crime and corruption, initially using lethal force but later adopting a no-kill policy.
The Arrow’s Plot And Twists
The show explores Oliver’s personal and emotional struggles as he juggles his dual identity, relationships, and the responsibilities of being a hero.
Arrow became known for its intricate plot twists and character development. It also introduced several other characters from the DC Comics, including Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), John Diggle (David Ramsey), and Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy).
The eighth season of Stephen Amell’s Arrow was its final season, consisting of ten episodes.
Stephen Amell’s Other Roles
After Arrow, Stephen Amell landed several roles in television and movies. The most notable is the drama Heels, set in the world of professional wrestling. Created by Michael Waldron, the series premiered on Starz in August 2021.
It was renewed for a second season in November that same year. While the show was canceled after its second outing, producer Mike O’Malley hopes to find a new home for the project.
Code 8 And Sequel
Stephen Amell also starred in the 2019 film Code 8. Billed as a sci-fi action movie, the story is set in a world where people with superpowers face discrimination and struggle to find work, leading some to turn to a life of crime.
The actor is set to reprise his role as Garrett Kelton in the upcoming sequel, Code 8: Part II.
