Continuing to slay, Sarah Michelle Gellar is embracing her new identity as “mother” and taking Instagram by storm. In a post which you can see below, the Scooby-Doo star took to her socials to celebrate her career resurgence (not that she ever really left our hearts), in an image that sees her wearing a lacy see-through white dress with a black two-piece set underneath. Always up for the challenge of being glam, the actress strikes a pose with her hip out, showing off her killer legs and black heels.
After mostly taking a break from the limelight over the last several years, Sarah Michelle Gellar returned with her star shining brighter than ever in last year’s Jennifer Kaytin Robinson-directed dark comedy Do Revenge. Not only did the Netflix film count as Gellar’s big return to the great wide world of showbiz, but it also paired as a callback to two of the actress’ previous roles. The film leans heavily on odes to classic films of the ‘90s with Gellar’s headmaster character reminiscent of her blockbuster sensation Cruel Intentions as well as her titular character’s new job as the school guidance counselor in Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s seventh and final season.
Known as her breakthrough and most notable role, Buffy the Vampire Slayer helped launch Sarah Michelle Gellar to fame over almost a decade on the air. It was there that she would cross paths with the internet’s “daddy” Pedro Pascal when the actor held down a guest role in the fourth season. Of course, now Pascal has gone on to skyrocket his own career via Game of Thrones and more recently The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, but we’ll always thank Gellar and the team behind Buffy for giving Pascal the added boost that he needed.
For mega-fans of Buffy who have hoped that Sarah Michelle Gellar would grab Mr. Pointy and return to a world of action, it seems that the actress has given up the role for good. Over the last few years, whispers and slow-moving steps have been taken to drum up a Buffy reboot which would most definitely slay among fans who have been clamoring for more femme-fatale adventures since the show bowed out in 2003. And while something could still be formed down the line, Gellar has officially stated that it’s time for another woman to be handed the power and that she’s no longer interested in stepping back into the character’s high-heels and kicking butt.
However, over this past year, Sarah Michelle Gellar did make her return to the world of supernatural television via Paramount+’s series Wolf Pack. The series centers around a sleepy town that comes to life after an out-of-control forest fire awakens an ancient beast. Mainly centered around a group of teenagers discovering that they have special powers, Sarah Michelle Gellar’s arson investigator, Kristin Ramsey, also has a major role to play in the events that unfold.
With so many titles across a broad number of streaming platforms, there’s never been a better time to celebrate the career of Sarah Michelle Gellar. From Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Cruel Intentions and the more recent Do Revenge and Wolf Pack, there’s something currently streaming for all Gellar fans.
