Salma Hayek recently celebrated her birthday and she rang in her 56th by dancing and singing with a Mariachi band. As you can see in her post, it seems like the perfect way to celebrate a birthday occasion. Hayek sang along in a festive pink dress and looked as stunning as ever.

A relaxing birthday celebration with friends and family is well-deserved for Salma Hayek, who has been busy the last couple of years filming critical darlings, blockbusters, and anticipated films that have yet to be released. In 2021, she led the Eternals as Ajak in Marvel’s Eternals. Though Eternals isn’t considered the best Marvel film in the bunch, Hayek brought a strong performance that anchored the fantastical story.

She also had a more devious role as Pina Auriemma in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, a co-conspirator with Lady Gaga’s Patrizia Reggiani in the assassination of Adam Driver’s Maurizio Gucci. Though critics were also divided on House of Gucci, the film still had a dynamite cast with many praiseworthy performances, including Hayek’s.

We won’t be seeing Salma Hayek in another film role until 2023, but we will be hearing her before then. She’ll be reprising her role as Kitty Softpaws in the upcoming animated Dreamworks film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Antonio Banderas returns in the titular role as Puss in Boots sets off on a quest to restore his nine lives after burning through eight of them over the year.

Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado co-direct the animated feature with a script from Paul Fisher. Along with Salma Hayek and Banderas, the voice cast features Harvey Guillen, Florence Pugh, John Mulaney, Wagner Moura, Ray Winstone, Samson Kayo, Olivia Colman, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is set to release on December 21, 2022.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish should be some lighter, family-friendly fare from Salma Hayek before we see her Angelina Jolie’s Without Blood, which is set to be a decidedly heavier film. Jolie will be behind the camera for this one while also adapting the script from the novel by Alessandro Baricco. Salma Hayek will star as Nina.

The novel tells the story of a horrific act of violence that happens in the Italian countryside during wartime. The only survivor is four-year-old Nina, who meets her childhood savior in her 50s, causing her to revisit the events of that night. Demian Bichir will also be starring. Jolie’s previous directing efforts have been strong, affecting dramas and Without Blood is looking like it’s going to be no exception. The film doesn’t have a release date yet, but they’ll likely announce one soon.

Finally, Salma Hayek is set to have a role in Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Hayek stepped in to star in the movie when Thandiwe Newton dropped out. Channing Tatum will be returning to reprise his role in the third installment. The Magic Mike films have been surprisingly great, both critically and commercially, and it looks like this one is shaping up to be no different. With Hayek on board, it should be the perfect capper to the trilogy.
