See Salma Hayek With An Owl Balanced On Her Head
Salma Hayek has a pet owl, Kering, that loves to perch on her head.
Many people have a love for pets like the typical dogs and cats or even for the more exotic ones like snakes, and celebrities are no exception. One celebrity, however, is turning heads with her latest Instagram post about one of her exotic pet’s favorite landing spots. According to a recent Instagram post, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish actress Salma Hayek likes to have her pet owl perch right on top of her head.
The Instagram post features the caption “Happy National Pets Day!” and is a montage of very cute photos of various animals that have been in her care over the years, accompanied by Randy Newman’s “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” made famous by Toy Story. In one of the photos, an owl is perching on the top of Salma Hayek’s head. Its wide orange eyes stare directly into the camera, which seems familiar and comfortable for both the owl and the actress.
The owl in question is Kering. Kering is Salma Hayek’s pet southern white-faced owl, whom she rescued and gifted to her husband, the French businessman François-Henri Pinault. Kering is the name of Pinault’s French luxury goods brand, which owns familiar high-end designer brands like Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Alexander McQueen, and Yves Saint Lauren, and it also features an owl in its logo.
Salma Hayek seems to have a plethora of fluffy friends. The insanely adorable montage features many of the various animals that have been in Hayek’s care over the years, including Kering, multiple bunnies, alpacas, cats, dogs, a horse, geese, a parrot, and others. Not surprisingly, Hayek is an avid lover of animals and has rescued or adopted many different kinds of animals throughout the years, at one point claiming to have around 30 different animals in her care.
Salma Hayek Pinault is a Mexican and American from Veracruz, Mexico. Hayek began her career acting in Mexican telenovelas and films such as the telenovela Teresa and the film El Callejón de los Milagros (Miracle Alley).
Salma Hayek’s appearance in the 1995 western Desperado alongside names like Antonio Banderas, Quentin Tarantino, Steve Buscemi, and Danny Trejo garnered her crossover appeal. She would work again with Tarantino in From Dusk till Dawn, and return to the western genre with the steampunk film Wild Wild West alongside Will Smith.
Although these films would garner her international fame and recognition, arguably, her portrayal of the iconic painter Frida Kahlo in 2002’s biographical film Frida is her most acclaimed and for which the actress has gained the most recognition. Serving as both the titular star and a producer, Salma Hayek became the first Mexican actress to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the film.
Salma Hayek made her directing debut with the television film The Maldonado Miracle in 2003, for which she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Children’s Special. Her most recent acting credits include 2021’s House of Gucci and last year’s Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
Salma Hayek obviously has a love for animals and a unique relationship with the animals in her care. Although she often plays hard, badass women, she has a soft spot for animals, especially her pet owl Kering. Fans now know that one of those soft spots happens to be her head.
