Queen may have lost Freddie Mercury back in the early 1990s, but now the man’s memory can live on through a brand-new song. During the recording of The Miracle, which was released in 1989, a song called “Face It Alone” had been recorded, though the band thought it to be unrecoverable at the time. Now, through some great work from the engineering team, the song has now officially been released, and you can listen to the long-lost track above.

For anyone who happens to be a fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury, the track will instantly provide you with the nostalgia of hearing the uplifting voice and lyrics of the man who captivated the world. Queen has exploded in popularity again in recent years, more so because of the Bohemian Rhapsody biopic that starred Rami Malek. Malek did a spectacular job portraying Mercury, which landed him a Best Actor win at the Academy Awards.

Not that Queen and Freddie Mercury had ever fallen out of popularity, but Bohemian Rhapsody sent that track and many of the older Queen albums back into the top spots during the time the movie was in theaters. This new unreleased song might also find its way to the top of the charts, as Mercury’s spectacular voice cuts through like a knife.

Queen is preparing to reissue The Miracle, which will bring in this long-lost Freddie Mercury track. The Miracle Sessions will also contain original takes, demos, and six previously unreleased tracks which include the above “Face It Alone.” The massive eight-disc box set will also contain a failed follow-up to The Miracle, which includes instrumental, studio chats, radio interviews, and videos.

This new Queen reissue is going to bring back great memories of Freddie Mercury, and from the above track alone, we can’t wait to hear the rest of the unreleased tracks. The Miracle became one of the most important releases, mostly because it was the moment that the band decided to be far more collaborative with their writing, instead of crediting only one person with the writing aspect of the music’s creation.

Shortly after The Miracle had been released in 1989, Queen and Freddie Mercury would release their final original album, Innuendo. Innuendo was released in early 1991, just months before Mercury would die from complications related to the AIDS virus. The band’s Greatest Hits II album was also released in October 1991, a month before Mercury died, leaving behind a legacy that is unmatched.

“Face It Alone” is a spectacular reminder of how people had fallen in love with Queen and Freddie Mercury’s vocal prowess. The Miracle reissue is set to release on November 18th, and for those Queen superfans, you can purchase the huge eight-disc box set to take a trip back to 1989, and experience one of the most important albums in Queen’s discography, but with a brand-new look at tons of behind-the-scenes features. It is amazing to hear Freddie’s voice some 40 years later, especially with how ill he was at the time.
