Proof That Jonathan Majors Is Innocent?
Jonathan Majors' attorney says a plethora of evidence exonerating the actor exists and is being compiled.
Jonathan Majors, star of Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, saw his meteoric rise in Hollywood start to flame out in an instant on Saturday when he was arrested on domestic violence charges. While the case is actively ongoing and more information will be released as the situation unfolds, people close to the investigation have revealed that the 33-year-old actor is completely innocent of the charges. According to Variety, his defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, says that not only is Majors innocent of the charges but that he is even probably a victim of the situation.
According to Chaudhry, the NYPD responded to a 911 call in response to a domestic disturbance in a Manhattan apartment in the Chelsea district. The 30-year-old woman, whom Majors allegedly knew, was having an emotional crisis and was taken to the hospital for minor injuries to her head and neck. Chaudhry then claimed Majors is innocent of the charges he was arrested on, which include the misdemeanors of two counts of assault in the third degree, attempted assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, and harassment in the second degree.
Chaudhry revealed that the NYPD is required to take someone into custody in these instances, and therefore Jonathan Majors was taken in without incident. However, video footage from the vehicle where the alleged incident took place and witness testimony from the driver and onlookers, along with two written statements from the woman recanting the allegations, apparently exist. Chaudhry says that they are gathering all of that evidence to present to the New York District Attorney, and then they expect the charges will be dropped and will prove Majors’ innocent.
Jonathan Majors rose to prominence in Hollywood on the backs of some incredible performances, starting with his heartfelt tribute to both a city and friendship in The Last Black Man in San Francisco. He was then able to star alongside the late Chadwick Boseman in Da 5 Bloods, following four black veterans returning to Vietnam to search for the remains of their fallen fellow soldier and the gold they left behind. Finally, he got even more attention when he led a black ensemble cast for Netflix’s spin on the historical events of the Wild West when he joined Idris Elba, Regina King, Zazie Beets, and Edi Gathegi for The Harder They Fall.
Fans have been hoping more information would come out to prove Jonathan Majors’ innocent of charges that are enough to put his career at risk. As one of the hottest actors in the business, having most recently appeared in the Korean War epic, Devotion, and the boxing franchise installment Creed III, he has big things ahead of him. Perhaps the most precarious project that hinges on this case’s outcome is his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he is set to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
While more information is bound to be revealed in the coming days and weeks when the investigation unfolds, Jonathan Majors’ camp maintains he is innocent of all charges and expects them to be dropped quickly.
