Some of the most gorgeous actresses of our time are choosing to celebrate Christmas by posting steamy photos, like the young Millie Bobby Brown whose holiday message included a shot of the star in a red bikini. The Oscar-winning Penelope Cruz might be three decades Brown’s senior, but she still managed to outdo the Stranger Things icon. Cruz’s Merry Christmas to her fans included a shot of the actress wearing nothing but a pair of frilly underwear.
The shirtless shot of the Vicky Cristina Barcelona star is from the Spanish issue of Dust Magazine. She captions it with “Merry Christmas!” and a heart emoji, followed by a series of tags. For obvious reasons, the bold image garnered a lot of attention quickly; attracting comments and likes from hundreds of thousands of Penelope Cruz’s over six million Instagram followers.
At 48 years old, Penelope Cruz doesn’t look that much older than Millie Bobby Brown. Speaking to Elle Canada last February, Cruz didn’t reveal anything insanely strenuous about her routine that keeps her so physically fit and youthful. Though she did point out that she has 17 years of classical ballet training under her belt, which is just about as physically demanding as you can get.
Getting this shot, or any appearance, from Penelope Cruz will be a welcome one, particularly from her American fans. Most of Cruz’s screen projects that were released in 2022 were from productions based overseas. Her only English-speaking role this year was in the female-led espionage thriller The 355, which didn’t do well at all at the box office.
In spite of Penelope Cruz being joined by an impressive cast that included Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Bingbing Fan (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), and Sebastian Stan (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier); The 355 was hammered by critics and barely scraped together close to half of its production budget.
If history repeats itself, Penelope Cruz’s next big project is likely to be treated with much kinder words from reviewers. She’s set to star opposite Adam Driver (The Force Awakens) in the upcoming biopic Ferrari, directed by Michael Mann (The Insider). Driver will play the famous car manufacturer founder Enzo Ferrari, while Cruz will play his wife Laura.
Michael Mann has been nominated for four Oscars for his roles as director, producer, and writer. His name is often found attached to award-season darlings like The Aviator, The Last of the Mohicans, and Collateral. With Mann attached, Penelope Cruz and Adam Driver are likely to have much smoother rides with the critics.
