Oreo Just Brought Back Its All-Time Best Flavor
Nabisco is finally releasing Cotton Candy Oreoes for the first time since 2015.
The classic chocolate Oreos are a staple junk food that won’t ever go out of style, but the cookie company has given us plenty of other interesting flavors over the years. Perhaps one of the tastiest off-shoots is the Cotton Candy flavor, and it looks like Nabisco is bringing it back just in time for summer. The official account for the famous sandwich cookie took to Instagram to share the good news:
If you can’t wait to get your hands on some Cotton Candy Oreos, you’ll, unfortunately, have to wait just a little longer. According to the Instagram post, these will be hitting grocery shelves on June 5. The spin-off flavor will feature cotton candy creme sandwiched between two golden cookies, and it is a limited edition again, so make sure to stock up while you can.
The classic Oreo flavors are hard to beat, but it’s always nice to have options. Along with cotton candy, other limited edition flavors on offer right now are the S’mores flavor and the Blackout Cake flavor. Fans of the cookie can also find plenty of other non-limited flavor options on their website, such as Toffee Crunch, Chocolate Hazelnut, Java Chip, Birthday Cake, Chocolate Creme, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, Peanut Butter, Caramel Coconut, and Lemon.
Surprisingly, we haven’t seen this fan-favorite flavor of Oreo for quite a long time, as it hasn’t been available since it was first introduced in 2015. Eight years later, Nabisco is finally listening to snack fans and bringing the flavor back. Coincidentally, the S’Mores flavor was also introduced back in 2015, but it has been brought back a few times since then while the cotton candy flavor has been in limbo.
Maybe if the cotton candy flavor sells like hotcakes (or cookies), Oreo will be more willing to bring it back sooner and not make fans wait another eight years to see it on shelves again. While many fans are happy that the cotton candy flavor is making its grand return, others are asking to see some other limited edition flavors get their due again. Flavors like Red Velvet, Brookie-O, PB&J, Strawberry Frosted Donut, Rocky Road Trip, Cookie Dough, and Blueberry Pie have all been missed and might be due for a comeback of their own in the future.
Regardless of what flavors they offer, Oreo continues to be the top-selling cookie brand in the United States and one of the best-selling cookie brands in the world. The limited edition nature of the flavor only adds to the scarcity and demand from fans to bring their flavors back. While the company could make more of these flavors at any time, the marketing technique seems to help the stranger flavors sell faster.
If you were hoping that Oreo would bring back a different flavor of cookie, you might be out of luck for now. Of course, if you’re a fan of the cotton candy flavor, you might want to set your calendars for June 5. Who knows how fast they’ll sell out of these after keeping them in the vault for nearly a decade?
