Netflix Actress Calls For Assassination Of Donald Trump By President Biden
Netflix actress famous for her portrayal in Orange is the New Black, Lea DeLaria, posted public commentary on social media in the wake of the Supreme Court’s immunity ruling, calling for President Biden to assassinate Trump—while also stating that Trump is Hitler and this is 1940.
This commentary isn’t without some base, considering that the Supreme Court ruled that former president Donald Trump is immune from prosecution for any “official acts” while in office.
Assassinations Are Now Legal
Some consider such a ruling to be a double-edged sword because it allows the POTUS to, at least theoretically, assassinate a political rival and then call such an act “official.” Lea DeLaria called on President Joe Biden to rely on such a ruling to assassinate Trump, likening his assassination to preemptively killing Adolf Hitler before World War II.
DeLaria Didn’t Hold Back
Not only did Lea DeLaria compare Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler, but she didn’t fret about using plenty of profanity in her Instagram posts. The Orange is the New Black star also called Associate Justice Clarence Thomas an Uncle Tom, while simultaneously expressing dissatisfaction with the Supreme Court’s ruling in a rather vocal manner, ignoring the facts that the very same court made same-sex marriage legal less than a decade ago.
The Pushback Was Swift
Lea Delaria continued her tirade against former president Donald Trump in accompanying captions on subsequent posts, challenging those who disagree with her publicly shared opinion. The argumentative post, along with DeLaria’s other comments, sparked plenty of pushback, calling the actress’ rhetoric not only divisive but also quite dangerous—some users also questioned whether threats against a former president constitute domestic terrorism. The actress didn’t respond to any of those comments.
Not The First Time DeLaria Has Done This
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Lea DeLaria has posted similar content regarding Donald Trump on her social media. After the 2016 election, the actress and comedian posted that she would gladly introduce every Republican and Independent she saw to the baseball bat—though we’d like to point out that her wording on that particular post contained some profanities as well.
What’s even more interesting is the fact that the public pushback against her commentary also comes from those who are publicly against Donald Trump‘s return to office.
A Ground-Breaking Gay Comic Unafraid To Speak Her Mind
Lea DeLaria is a SAG Award-winning actress and comedian, as well as the first openly gay comic to appear on American television with her appearance in 1993’s The Arsenio Hall Show. Though she’s best known for portraying the inmate Carrie Black, also known as Big Boo, on Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, DeLaria is also known for her work on Broadway. Since her work on OITNB, DeLaria has had a variety of bit parts on shows, like Awkwafina is Nora from Queens, but most of those roles were one-offs.
It was also recently revealed that Lea DeLaria also tied the knot with her longtime girlfriend, Dalia Gladstone, a former receptionist who, just like DeLaria, lives in New York City after the same Supreme Court she recently criticized struck down all state bans on same-sex marriage.
