Monica Bellucci confirms that she and Tim Burton are in a relationship.
Many fans claim to be in love with director Tim Burton, and now, so does his Beetlejuice 2 star actress, Monica Bellucci, according to People. The two have been seen spending a lot of time together recently, sparking rumors that they are an item. Earlier today, Monica Bellucci confirmed her relationship with the director, saying, “I know the man, I love him.”
The couple first met at France’s Cannes Film Festival in 2006 when they both walked along the red carpet. Over 15 years later, the two met again in France when Monica Bellucci presented Tim Burton with a lifetime achievement award at the Lumière Film Festival. France is truly the most romantic country in the world because sparks started flying between the two while they were there.
Shortly after their time in France, the happy couple were spotted linking arms in Madrid. Both Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton were wearing dark and elegant clothing, landing their paparazzi shot on the cover of Paris Match magazine. Earlier this year, they were spotted once again in Paris, this time locking lips outside of The Ritz Paris Hotel.
While the director and actress have been spending plenty of time together in their personal lives, they are now working together professionally as they film Beetlejuice 2 in London. This will mark the first time that the two have collaborated on a project since Tim Burton typically directs playful gothic films that star Johnny Depp, and Monica Bellucci typically stars in Italian and French films.
Tim Burton is directing Beetlejuice 2, just as he directed the original 1988 Beetlejuice, which was a smash hit. While Jenna Ortega will star as Winona Ryder’s daughter, Monica Bellucci will play the very important role of Beetlejuice’s wife, a new character in the film franchise.
Two other new faces joining the sequel’s cast are Willem Dafoe and Justin Theroux, though it is yet to be determined which characters they will play.
Michael Keaton will make his return as the infamous Beetlejuice because there is just no one who can pull off the creepy, charismatic charm as he can. The lovely Catherine O’Hara will also reprise her role as Delia Deetz, the mother of Winona Ryder’s character and one of the new homeowners from the original film.
As Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci hopefully fall deeper in love while filming the new movie, it won’t be the first time that the director has fallen for a fellow collaborator.
From 2001 to 2014, Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter were in a long-term relationship as they worked together on films like Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Dark Shadows. The two separated in 2014 after having a son and daughter together.
Monica Bellucci is also used to sharing the Hollywood spotlight with her former husband, actor Vincent Cassel. The French actor is best known for his work on Black Swan and the Mesrine films. The two were married from 1999 to 2013 and share two daughters together.
