Miley Cyrus’ Relationship With Father Billy Ray Cyrus Is Destroyed
Father-daughter duo Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus used to be as thick as thieves, even staring in the hit show Hannah Montana together. However, over the last few years, the two have started to drift apart. While some of this is due to the divorce between Billy and Tish, a new audio leak of Billy Ray Cyrus fighting with his current wife, Firerose, seems to suggest that Billy has problems specifically with his daughter as well.
This Public Fallout Was A Long Time Coming
The feud isn’t new. Apparently, Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus have been fighting with each other since 2022. This was when the latter divorced his wife, Miley’s mother, Tish Cyrus.
Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus married in 1993, after first having met in 1991. Together, they had three kids, one of which was Miley Cyrus, and Billy Ray Cyrus adopted two of Tish’s other children from a previous relationship. When they got divorced, Tish and Billy cited the reason being “irreconcilable differences.”
Miley Cyrus Hasn’t Been Particularly Vocal On The Matter
Miley Cyrus has been pretty silent about her life over the last few years. This makes it hard for fans to determine exactly what is going on between her and Billy Ray Cyrus. During interviews, she’s been asked about the potential estrangement but has only responded with vague answers.
“I have a very intimate and close relationship with my family. But like all families, we’re also complex,” She said during an interview with British Vogue in 2021.
There Have Been Clues, However
Despite not coming out publicly about their relationship, Miley Cyrus had shown signs that not everything was peachy between the father and daughter. For example, when Billy Ray Cyrus got remarried to Firerose in 2023, Miley did not attend the wedding. However, not only did she attend her mother’s wedding around the same time, but she was the maid of honor.
Weighing in on the matter, Miley Cyrus said, “I’m grateful for being able to watch him ahead of me. He’s almost given me this map. And there’s a map of what to do and what not to do, and he’s guided me on both.”
Billy Ray Cyrus’ Hot Mic Moment
Additionally, according to The Sun, Billy Ray Cyrus and his daughter Miley Cyrus had an argument about how Billy treated Tish at the end of their marriage. This argument didn’t seem to solve much, with Billy and Miley no longer on speaking terms. They also both unfollowed each other on Instagram.
While Miley Cyrus has been fairly closed up about the whole situation, Billy Ray Cyrus hasn’t been quite so silent. Thanks to a leaked audio recording of Billy and Firerose fighting, Billy is heard calling Miley, Tish, and Firerose all sorts of awful names.
In the recording, Billy Ray Cyrus refused to call Miley Cyrus by name, referring to her as a devil, a sk*nk, and several other rude names.
Not Currently On Speaking Terms
Billy Ray Cyrus tried to claim the situation wasn’t all that bad, by saying that much of the audio was taken out of context and that it wasn’t as harsh as it sounded. However, taken out of context, there are not many ways to excuse his harsh words. It seems that Miley Cyrus isn’t ready to forgive him, especially after that outburst, either.
As of right now, it appears Billy Ray Cyrus’ other children and him are still on speaking terms. They’ve been rather silent on the whole situation as well, like Miley Cyrus, but don’t appear to be taking either parent’s side.
