Mayim Bialik Stuns Fans With Surprise Photo With Big Bang Theory Costar

While the show continues to have its fair share of harsh critics, nobody can deny that The Big Bang Theory was a genuine cultural phenomenon that dominated the airwaves for more than a decade. The show helped to make stars like Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, and Jim Parsons into household names, and it brought Mayim Bialik back into the spotlight for the first time since her Blossom days. And while Bialik is more focused on hosting Jeopardy! these days (where she is often unflatteringly compared to fellow host Ken Jennings), she took the time to post a surprise on Instagram where she is posing with fellow Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons.
It’s possible that Mayim Bialik was just feeling nostalgic when she posted this photo of herself and Jim Parsons on the red carpet in 2015, but we think she really posted to showcase her short haircut. In everything from Blossom to Big Bang Theory, her characters always had longer hair, and that’s why fans were shocked when she recently showed off a new, shorter haircut on Instagram. Some fans went so far as to call her unrecognizable with shorter hair, so we think the star posting an eight-year-old photo with similarly short hair might be her way of reminding us that she not only has rocked shorter locks before, but she looked damn good while doing so.
In addition to the cute haircut, one thing that fans immediately noticed about this latest Mayim Bialik post is her wardrobe. Rather than going for anything overly flashy or overly revealing, she went with a beautiful blue dress that helped make her brown eyes sparkle. And speaking of sparkling things, we absolutely adored her necklace which showed the perfect amount of outsized elegance for a fancy evening.
If you haven’t been keeping up with Mayim Bialik’s career, you might think her posting a picture from the heyday of The Big Bang Theory is just an excuse to relive her glory days. However, the star has long since moved on from that show in some fairly big ways. For example, in addition to regularly hosting Jeopardy!, she currently stars in Call Me Kat, a Fox show in which her unwed character takes money that her parents originally set aside for her wedding to realize her dream of opening a cat cafe.
That show has proven to be very successful so far, and it’s currently in the midst of its third season. The success of the show underscores something that modern audiences might have forgotten: Mayim Bialik is an excellent leading lady, and she has been since Blossom. The Big Bang Theory often reduced her to being nothing but a nagging sidekick, so it’s fun to see her take the lead in a new show in which she plays a much more charismatic and dynamic character.
While the only thing that seems to be on Mayim Bialik’s upcoming docket is providing a voice for The Inspector Chronicles (she’s been a voice actor for over a decade now), it looks like she has plenty of work to keep her busy. Given the success of Call Me Kat, she clearly has plenty of fans around the world (thanks in part to the series also streaming on Hulu). Between the career success and posting smoking pictures on Instagram, it looks like “Mayim Bialik is absolutely killing it right now” is our final answer, and not even Ken Jennings can make us put that in the form of a question.
