See Marisa Tomei In A Tiny See-Through Top
Academy award-winning actress Marisa Tomei looks incredible in a throwback photo to the early-aughts.
Oscar-winning actress Marisa Tomei has been in the spotlight since 1987 when she starred in The Cosby Show spin-off, A Different World, as Maggie Lauten. More recently, Tomei introduced herself to a new generation when she starred as a more modern and energetic Aunt May in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man series. A Twitter user decided to ring in the new year by posting a throwback photo of Marisa Tomei in a tiny see-through top that looks to be from the early 2000s.
In the photo, Marisa Tomei appears to be standing on the red carpet at an event, though the logos on the step-and-repeat backdrop are blurred out. Tomei looks elegant and dreamy as she looks up and away from the camera. Her dark brunette hair is tied back in an updo while little wispy baby hairs frame the sides of her face, which is made up with a natural look and some shiny pink lipgloss.
Marisa Tomei wears a thin stretch of see-through green mesh fabric that ties together in the back and at the shoulders, forming a backless midriff shirt that follows the barely-there fashion that was popular at the turn of the century. The top has waves of golden sequins that match the sparkle of Tomei’s lipgloss. Overall, the look reminds us that Tomei has always had the elegance and beauty she is known for today.
Before she was known as Aunt May, Maris Tomei was an Academy Award Winning actress who had starred in many successful films, television shows, and theatrical productions. While she had previously been on the television show, A Different World, Tomei’s true breakout role was in the comedy, My Cousin Vinny. In the film, directed by Jonathan Lynn, Tomei played Mona Lisa Vito next to Joe Pesci’s Vinny. The role won the actress international attention as well as her first Academy Award, for Best Supporting Actress.
After being able to hold her own against the likes of Pesci and Ralph Macchio in My Cousin Vinny, and coming out of the experience with an Academy Award, the sky became the limit for Marisa Tomei. She went on to have her name appear on major television shows such as Seinfeld and The Simpsons, as well as earning herself two more Academy Award Nominations— one for In The Bedroom (2001) and the other for The Wrestler (2008). With her name appearing in the title of almost 100 different projects, Tomei has also appeared in other major films like Chaplin (1992), The Big Short (2015), and Untamed Heart (1993).
In 2016, Marisa Tomei took up the mantle of the iconic comic book character Aunt May when she appeared in Captain America: Civil War and many later MCU films. In other versions of Spider-Man, Aunt May has been portrayed as an older woman with more grandmotherly energy. However, Tomei brought new life to the character, as well as a flirty and spunky persona. Aunt May’s fate in Spider-Man: No Way Home broke audiences’ hearts worldwide, though Tomei has hinted that May’s fate might change in upcoming films.
Marisa Tomei has remained a prominent actress in Hollywood since the early 90s, and whether she returns to the MCU or not, that will not change. No matter what Tomei has in store for the future, we know it’s going to be good, and we can’t wait to see her in her next role.
