Australian actor Margot Robbie is well known for her sense of humor, as well as her sense of style. The Barbie performer has delighted audiences for years with stunning portrayals of real-life people, in addition to cultivating a career easily justified by her impeccable taste in selecting roles. While she seemingly came out of nowhere with The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie has been working for much of her life to perfect accents and looks to play characters that are both entertaining and very authentic. Now, it appears that the news of a new project for Margot Robbie is making the rounds on social media, and fan pages devoted to the actor are celebrating by posting sweet pictures of Robbie.
An Instagram account for updates on Margot Robbie’s casting choices and career has posted pictures to spread rumors of a new film she intends to star in and produce. With a cheeky grin and a low-cut turquoise gown, the actor can be seen looking extremely happy about the new movie with her Bombshell director, Jay Roach. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Margot Robbie is bringing Ocean’s 11 back to life with a film franchise reboot, with Roach directing and Robbie producing. The film series has gone through several iterations, beginning with The Rat Pack version in 1960, then being remade by Steven Soderbergh in 2001 with George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle as part of the ensemble cast. After two sequels to the 2001 adaptation, Sandra Bullock chose to take part in a spin-off with Cate Blanchett in 2018’s Ocean’s Eight. It seems that Robbie is interested in capturing some of that magic again.
According to a report by Screen Rant, Margot Robbie is attempting to add her Barbie costar Ryan Gosling to the mix of her Ocean’s 11 reboot, and Gosling appears to be in talks for a role. As many of the movies in the franchise have included A-list stars as part of the growing cast, including Brad Pitt and Mindy Kaling, it would stand to reason that Robbie is trying to accumulate a stunning cast for a new generation of heists and crimes. While the original Ocean’s 11 movies featured Las Vegas as the prime location for the gang’s theft, some of the sequels and Bullock’s movie touched on exotic locales and big cities like New York City. It will be entertaining to see where Robbie’s version will be set and who else may join the adventure.
The plot elements for Margot Robbie’s Ocean’s 11 film are still kept secret for the time being, but a few details are known to the general public. The Wrap reports that the movie will take place in Europe in the 1960s, which may set the scene for a possible prequel to the George Clooney-led 2001 version. Some possible explanations for this setting may be that Robbie will portray a different member of the Ocean family, as Clooney played Danny Ocean and Sandra Bullock took on the role of sister Debbie Ocean. With Robbie’s stunning looks and bonafide comedy chops, it’s not out of the question to think that she could maybe play the Ocean siblings’ mother or a recognizable relative to the previous main characters.
