Margot Robbie is one of the biggest movie stars and film producers in the world, which makes her also being one of the most gorgeous women in the world a very special kind of triple threat. This recent Instagram post from @margotupdates is a throwback to 2018, when Margot Robbie showed up to the London premiere of her film Terminal wearing a sheer, transparent black lace dress by Chanel. She had just been named a brand ambassador for the legendary Parisian fashion house at the time, so it make a lot of sense she would be displaying its work at one of her own events.
The pictures show Margot Robbie first tilting her head puckishly at the camera, with her blonde hair cut to shoulder length and the tips delicately flipping up, while her famously blue eyes are only lightly touched with dark eyeliner. In the second picture, one can see Margot Robbie’s dress more clearly; it is a gorgeous, gauzy lace piece of work that by some miracle of fashion manages to both reveal and conceal at the same time. The dress leaves the Australian actress’s shoulders bare, while two delicate chains leading to florets hold the bodice up.
Regrettably, Terminal did not end up being a hit for Margot Robbie, despite a supporting cast of Simon Pegg, Max Irons, and Mike Myers in multiple roles (as he is wont to do). The neo-noir thriller movie was mostly dismissed by critics, though as usual, Margot Robbie herself was praised for her style and panache. Terminal currently holds 21% on Rotten Tomatoes, and grossed less than a million dollars at the box office, making it one of Margot Robbie’s worst flops.
Fortunately, the actress does not actually have that many of those. Terminal came the year after the acclaimed dark comedy biopic I, Tonya, for which Margot Robbie was nominated for an Academy Award (and her co-star/on-screen mother Allison Janney won for Best Supporting Actress). Following I, Tonya, Margot Robbie made two back-to-back, but very different movies associated with children’s literature: Goodbye Christopher Robin, a biopic of Winnie the Pooh author A.A. Milne, and Peter Rabbit, a CGI-animated film based on the works of Beatrix Potter.
Of course, before that, Margot Robbie had starred in the controversial Suicide Squad, the DC Universe film directed by David Ayers in which she first portrayed fan-favorite character Harley Quinn. Since then, Margot Robbie has become the most prominent actress to play the role, although the character has also been voiced by both Kaley Cuoco and Christina Ricci to critical acclaim. More recently, it seems that Lady Gaga will be portraying Harley Quinn in the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux, which Margot Robbie voiced her support for.
Margot Robbie is set to portray the title character in the upcoming movie Barbie alongside Ryan Gosling as Ken and Will Ferrell in a villainous role. She is also currently starring in the David O. Russell movie Amsterdam alongside Christian Bale and John David Washington, and will soon appear in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon along with Brad Pitt.
