Margot Robbie is one of Hollywood’s brightest stars (even if she actually hails from Australia), as evidenced by her incredibly busy slate of upcoming movies. Every once in a while, it can be fun to take a look back and realize that at pretty much every public appearance, Margot Robbie has always looked amazing. In a throwback photo posted by Instagram user @margotupdates, we can see the actress dressed in an absolutely gorgeous black, low-cut gown at a pre-party for the 90th Academy Awards ceremony in 2018.

In the pictures in question, Margot Robbie was attending a pre-Oscar party thrown by mystery novelist Charles Finch and the Chanel fashion house, so it is probably safe to assume the Amsterdam star was wearing Chanel at the time. The dress left her shoulders completely bare, with a long beaded tassel falling down to nearly her knees. At the time, Margot Robbie was wearing her hair short, letting a blonde curl fall down one side of her face.

Margot Robbie was attending the 90th Academy Awards for her first nomination for the dark comedy I, Tonya, in which she portrayed real-life controversial former ice skater Tonya Roberts. Robbie was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance, ultimately losing to Frances McDormand (who won the second of her four Oscars) in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. However, Margot Robbie was also nominated for a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award, so it is not like she did not get recognition.

A few years later, Margot Robbie would be nominated for another Academy Award (in the Best Supporting Actress category this time around) for the film Bombshell. Since then, Margot Robbie has played Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for Quentin Tarantino, DC Comics fan favorite Harley Quinn in a number of movies, and soon, Barbie herself. The full-length Barbie movie co-starring Ryan Gosling is one of her most anticipated roles, if only because everyone is fascinated to see what happens when you put so much Day-Glo fabric on screen at once.

Most recently, Margot Robbie starred in the comedic thriller period piece Amsterdam, directed by David O. Russell and co-starring Christian Bale, John David Washington, and most of the working actors in Hollywood. Although the movie was highly promoted by 20th Century Pictures, it, unfortunately, has flopped in theaters to a degree rarely seen in a movie with so much star power.

However, Margot Robbie does have a number of upcoming projects that will hopefully wash away the memory of Amsterdam. Aside from the aforementioned Barbie film, Margot Robbie will also soon be starring in Babylon, a different comedic thriller period piece set in the early 20th century, directed by Damien Chazelle. Babylon also stars Brad Pitt, Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde, and the rest of Hollywood that was not in Amsterdam.

Finally, in addition to Babylon, Margot Robbie will be starring in the upcoming science fiction film Asteroid City, by acclaimed twee director Wes Anderson. Suffice it to say, she has a lot of different outfits to wear soon.
