See Margot Robbie In Space
Having kicked all the ass that she possibly can on Earth, it looks like Margot Robbie is getting ready to conquer the final frontier: space. However, the shots of her from a recent Instagram fan post have nothing to do with Star Trek (although we have to admit that she’d look good rocking her Harley Quinn colors in a red and black Starfleet uniform). Instead, these cosmically cute photos are just one more way that the intrepid star is helping to market the upcoming Barbie movie.
A popular Margot Robbie fan account posts images of the star as Astronaut Barbie.
Just in case there was any confusion, Margot Robbie’s Instagram post is helpfully captioned “Space Barbie.” The first image, which combines Barbie’s signature pink coloration with Robbie apparently floating in space, makes it look like Robbie is peeking into the porthole of some kind of ship or space station.
Of course, the inherent silliness of the upcoming film also shines through in the image: despite the stars making it clear that Robbie is supposed to be floating in space, her gold dress and bare arms don’t exactly look like she’s ready for a spacewalk.
While Margot Robbie looks a bit distant and perhaps even confused in the first image, all of that vanishes in the second image. Here, the actor is looking directly into the camera and giving her most dazzling smile.
The image is distracting for reasons other than her beautiful grin, though, including her blonde hair flowing out of the helmet and the fact that the image quality makes this look like one of those weird school photos we had taken way back in middle school.
In its own way, the third and final image in the series is the most captivating because it looks the most like an actual still from the upcoming Barbie film. The third image looks very serious, though, with Robbie gasping in wide-eyed shock at something scary out in space (though if you’re hoping for an Aliens crossover, you probably shouldn’t hold your breath).
Barbie premiering on the same weekend as Oppenheimer is going to make history.
Aside from giving us another chance to look at the lovely Margot Robbie, we enjoyed these images because they seem to match both the aesthetic and vibe of the Barbie film.
Trailers for that movie have certainly been designed to make fans question just how silly the narrative is going to get, and it looks like director Greta Gerwig has plenty of surprises in store for us. But we won’t know whether those surprises include Barbie visiting space until the film premieres.
Margot Robbie And The Actors’ Strike
Incidentally, Barbie premiering on the same weekend as Oppenheimer is going to make history: not only will it be the final blockbuster event of the summer movie season, but it may be the last big movie event for the foreseeable future until the end of the writer’s strike and actor’s strike.
Fortunately, we know Margot Robbie has no problem with that: E! News reports that she fully supports “all the unions.” With that being said, maybe we’ll get a Picket Line Barbie right after she returns from space.
