Margot Robbie Is Going Full Barbie In New Photos
With the release of the Barbie movie rapidly approaching, all eyes are on Margot Robbie. In the latest Instagram post from the Australian bombshell actress’ official fan account, Robbie seems to be unleashing her inner Barbie, sporting an all pink outfit complete with a crocheted turtle neck and a silk skirt. This collage is one of many Instagram posts shared by the account without further captioning necessary as fans leap into a fervor to support the Wolf of Wall Street star.
Margot Robbie in an all pink outfit set Instagram on fire with nearly 200,000 likes.
Though Margot Robbie herself does not run the account which uploaded the recent photos, it serves as her official fan page on Instagram, having amassed over 1.8 million followers worldwide. These numbers are reflected by the recent posts as well, as this collage was posted only days ago and already touts over 172,000 likes and over a thousand comments from the adoring public.
While many comments call attention to the star’s unshakable likeness to the design of the iconic Barbie dolls, highlighting the spectacular casting of Margot Robbie in the Barbie film, others left hundreds of good tidings wishing the star a happy birthday. Margot Robbie turned 33 years old on July 2, making her birthday twins with a number of big name stars including Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Tisdale, and Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s Larry David, according to a list available on IMDb.
Despite Margot Robbie’s spot-on look for the role, the Barbie film was originally written with another star in mind. Apparently, comedian Amy Schumer was originally set to play the plastic plaything in a much different iteration of the script than the one we’ll be seeing play out on the big screen on July 21.
After the Barbie movie passed hands between a number of major script changes, tonal overhauls, and studios trading the intellectual property back and forth, Schumer finally departed the project in 2018 due to alleged scheduling conflicts.

Of course, as the film’s production wrapped and promotional materials began to reach the public, the true tale of Schumer’s departure began to become known, with the comedian expressing frustration at the direction the film was headed before ultimately quitting the project entirely.
Though this change in casting allowed Margot Robbie an opportunity to bring the character to life, it also raises a number of questions about what the many previous iterations of the Barbie script may have looked like.
The original plan for Barbie was very different
According to Amy Schumer, the film was, at the time of her departure, too heavily focussed on the glamorization and skin-deep visuals of the Barbie character, in stark contrast with Schumer’s vision for the film which would see Barbie as a genius scientist.
Apparently the final straw for the comedian came when the studio gifted her a pair of congratulatory Manolo Blahnik shoes to celebrate her casting, demonstrating a perceived lack of the corporate executives’ care for the intellectual property in Schumer’s eyes.
While Margot Robbie’s Barbie appears to maintain a heavy focus on footwear in the final film, there appears to be much more depth to the character based on early trailer footage.
In fact, one of the Barbie movie’s inciting incidents seems to be Barbie’s realization that her dependance on footwear and visual perfection lacks the critical depth necessary to leave her feeling truly fulfilled, prompting her to take a journey toward self-actualization.
Regardless of how Margot Robbie chooses to play the character, fans are already experiencing extreme excitement, with internet memes and in-jokes following a common thread about how everyone seems to be overjoyed to flock to the box office for the upcoming film.
