See Margot Robbie In Barbie Pink Top And Miniskirt
Margot Robbie can be spotted in an all-pink ensemble on an Instagram fan page, and it’s clear that she’s having a lot of fun channeling her “inner-Barbie.” If pink is your favorite color (sorry for the Aerosmith reference), then you’ll want to feast your eyes on Robbie, who is sporting a pink miniskirt, pink high-heels, a pink crop top, and a pink designer handbag.
What’s more, she’s sitting behind the wheels of a bright pink vintage Corvette, and we can only hope that she took those heels off before slamming the sports car into high-gear.
Though these stunning and sporty photos were posted about a week ago to promote the upcoming Barbie movie, it looks like Margot Robbie has held onto the Corvette for more photo shoots, and we can’t say that we blame her.
Margot Robbie gives off major Barbie vibes in retro pink shades inside a pink corvette.
Just yesterday, another four-photo carousel was uploaded to highlight her appearance at the Barbie premiere, which took place on July 9. At the premiere, Robbie takes on a more formal look in the form of a black sequence dress and a diamond necklace that is blinding at first, but makes us truly appreciate the nod to Barbie’s constant need to fashionably accessorize.
When does Barbie hit theaters?
Barbie is slated for a July 21 theatrical release and will take us on a wildly surreal adventure with Margot Robbie’s Barbie and Ryan Gosling’s Ken as they’re exiled from Barbie Land and thrust into a journey of self-discovery. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, we strongly recommend that you do so because it’s clear that Barbie will be a comedy with mass appeal.
In the official Barbie trailer, we see Margot Robbie living a perfect fantasy life as the titular character in a prefab Mattel-constructed neighborhood, but it’s quickly revealed that not everything is okay in Barbie Land.
We’re met with a classic summer blockbuster needle-drop when Barbie curiously asks if any of the other Barbies have ever through about dying, and shortly after, it’s revealed that her feet are actually flat, indicating a shocking anatomical discrepancy between herself and the other Barbies.
And we can’t help but notice the playful reference to 1999’s The Matrix when Barbie is presented with two pieces of footwear: a pair of high-heels, and a pair of sandals, respectively representing the iconic blue pill and red pill that Neo was presented with by Morpheus.
Other Celebs Considered for the Role of Barbie
Margot Robbie was first considered for the role of Barbie in 2019 after a number of years in development and a number of studio changes. Universal Pictures was the first studio to secure the rights from Mattel, but a film failed to materialize. When Sony Pictures secured the rights to Barbie, both Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway were on the short-list for the lead role, but Sony’s contract expired after a number of re-writes.
But that all changed when the film’s rights were once again transferred to Warner Bros. Pictures, and Margot Robbie began her talks with the studio, which ultimately led to her securing the titular role alongside Ryan Gosling’s Ken. It’s been 14 years since we first heard talk of a live-action Barbie movie, and it looks to us that Margot Robbie was born to play the part, especially when you consider how great she looks with her current fashion choices.
The Barbenheimer Phenomenon
Barbie will premiere on July 21 2023, the same day that Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is slated to make its theatrical debut. Social media users have suggested watching both films back to back in a cinematic spectacle that they’re now referring to as “Barbenheimer.”
