As far as talented actors go, DC Extended Universe star Margot Robbie just might be the “it” girl of the 21st Century. Beautiful and funny, the stunning performer, well known for her work as Harley Quinn, seems to always know how to welcome some attention when she walks the red carpet of a movie premiere or flashy event. Recently, Margot Robbie was caught walking into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 13th Governors Awards wearing a green satin gown that showed the photographers at the event just a hint of the actor’s famous abs and her gorgeous smile.
Walking into the 13th Governors Awards alongside other famous actors like Glen Powell, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Lawrence, and Laura Dern, Barbie star Margot Robbie decided to ditch her infamous Chanel looks by wearing a green gown by Bottega Veneta. Seemingly always with a “Cheshire Cat” smile on her face, Robbie accompanied her flashy style with her signature long straight hair and some clunky bracelets. According to a report by Daily Mail, Robbie was accompanied to the event’s afterparty in Los Angeles by her husband Tom Ackerley, where she posed with Babylon costar Jean Smart at the Paramount Pictures-hosted shindig.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 13th Governors Awards were held in Los Angeles this weekend to honor some famous faces that have never won an Academy Award before, and the ceremony is often used by many actors as a promotional opportunity to gain attention for their awards season-contending films. Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox, songwriter Diane Warren, director Peter Weir, and filmmaker Euzhan Palcy were all given honorary Oscars for their lifetime of contributions to the film industry. Margot Robbie showed up to the event, as she is currently in the midst of a press tour for her leading role in Damien Chazelle’s highly anticipated movie, Babylon.
Babylon has been screened for critics ahead of its debut in theaters on December 23, 2022, just in time to enter the awards season discussion that is already filled with movies like The Menu, The Fabelmans, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Set in 1920s-era Hollywood, Babylon stars Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Brad Pitt, Jean Smart, and Tobey Maguire in what is supposed to be a wild ride of debauchery over the course of three hours. Many experts currently believe that Margot Robbie will be in major competition this year for the Academy Award for Best Actress, with Cate Blanchett leading the pack for her performance in Tár and Michelle Yeoh’s name thrown around a lot for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Margot Robbie has had a wonderful last few years as she has reprised her role of Harley Quinn in several projects for the DCEU, including James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The 32 year-old native Australian has been working on Greta Gerwig’s Barbie for the better part of the year, starring alongside Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, respectively. Robbie was also featured as part of the ensemble cast of David O. Russell’s period film Amsterdam, which premiered earlier this fall.
