Lindsay Lohan: Returning To Her Best Role In 2024

By Rick Gonzales | Updated

When Lindsay Lohan hit rock bottom, it was with a thud. To the casual observer, Lindsay Lohan was just another failed actress who gave in to excess time and time again. But Lindsay Lohan, 2024 version, as we will soon learn, is a much different person than the one who constantly found herself in self-inflicted hot water.

Though it might have been looking bleak for the actress over a multi-year stretch where Hollywood was concerned, things seemed to have turned around in the short term. Let’s take a look at what has been happening to her recently, personally and professionally, and why Lindsay Lohan’s 2024 could be her best year yet.

LINDSAY LOHAN RAISING A CHILD IN 2024

Talk about an about-face for Lindsay Lohan, the 2024 version. If you’ve only held a passing interest in Lindsay Lohan’s life (mainly when it has fallen apart), then the news that she got married was likely shocking since her personal life has been nothing short of a roller coaster with too many dips in it.

In 2004, Lohan started dating Wilmer Valderrama (That 70’s Show), and that went strong until 2006 when she then began dating Harry Morton, the Hard Rock Café heir. In 2008, Lindsay Lohan started dating Samantha Ronson, a DJ; their relationship lasted less than two years. For Lindsay Lohan in 2024, this seems like a lifetime ago.

Lohan then spent a number of years dealing with her personal struggles until 2016, when she became engaged to Egor Tarabasov, a London-based millionaire. That relationship lasted a year and a half when Lohan broke it off, claiming Tarabasov was abusive. He countered by claiming she stole £24,000 worth of his stuff.

In 2018, Lohan moved on to financier Bader Shammas. After three years of dating, Lohan and Shammas announced their engagement. Then, in 2022, Lohan let it slip when she posted a Happy Birthday wish to Shammas on her Instagram, writing, “I am the luckiest woman in the world. You found me and knew that I wanted to find happiness and grace, all at the same time. I am stunned that you are my husband. My life and my everything. Every woman should feel like this everyday.”

So, apparently, the two got married sometime in 2022. Lindsay Lohan’s life was about to get filled with even more good news. The picture below says it all.

“Coming soon.” Yes, Lindsay Lohan and husband Bader became parents. This was be Lohan’s first child, right as she was making a professional comeback of sorts, the timing apparently was right for the couple.

That baby, a son, was born in Dubai. For the most part, the couple has kept this huge family addition relatively under wraps from a media perspective.

THE SEC CAME CALLING FOR LINDSAY LOHAN

Although Lindsay Lohan, in 2024, appears to be on the right track, there may be a snafu to kind of muck up all the goodwill she has accumulated over the past couple of years.

This snafu comes in the form of the SEC, which is charging her with “failing to disclose that she was being paid to promote cryptocurrency tokens on social media.”

SEC chairman Gary Gensler said in a statement, “This case demonstrates again the high-risk investors face when crypto asset securities are offered and sold without proper disclosure.” Lohan wasn’t the only celebrity involved in this massive no-no. YouTuber/boxer Jake Paul, musicians Lil Yachty, Soulja Boy, Akon, Ne-Yo, and Austin Mahone, as well as adult entertainer Michelle Mason, aka Kendra Lust, were also involved.

Both Lindsay Lohan and Paul settled their tab, paying $10,000 to the SEC and another $30,000 in penalties. They also did that without admitting any guilt.

LINDSAY LOHAN IS A NETFLIX STAR WITH FALLING FOR CHRISTMAS AND IRISH WISH

Everyone loves a good redemption story, don’t they? We are a people who give second and third chances. For Lindsay Lohan, 2024 version, she may have gone well past her second and third chance, but still, she is building a nice comeback story. With her personal life rounding into form, so to speak, her professional life was beginning to take on that same tone.

After a huge departure from any Hollywood productions in 2015 (and before that a lot of hits and misses), Lindsay Lohan began her quest for redemption by starring in the 2018 TV series Sick Note.

Those seven episodes took her into 2019, where she starred in the little-seen feature Among the Shadows, playing a private investigator looking for the killer of her uncle while keeping a deep, dark secret – she comes from a long line of werewolves. Yikes.

Prior to a Lindsay Lohan 2024 comeback, she took a long pause on her trek to the top. In the three years that followed, Lohan only appeared in two projects, one as the voice of Ziva in the animated series Devil May Care and the other as the narrator of Lovestruck High. Then, in November 2022, Lohan made her comeback official by starring in the Netflix Christmas movie Falling for Christmas

In the movie, Lindsay Lohan plays Sierra Belmont, a rich heiress who gets amnesia while doing a photo shoot at a ski resort. Because this is a movie and nothing close to real life, she can’t remember who she is and ends up falling for a local bed and breakfast owner played by Chord Overstreet.

The movie’s plotlines are familiar in their cheesiness, but that didn’t stop things from crushing on Netflix.

Lindsay Lohan followed that up in 2024 with Irish Wish, another romantic comedy on Netflix. In this one, the premise is around Lohan’s character, who becomes a bride after making a wish on a stone. You read that correctly. Silly? Yes. But Lindsay Lohan in 2024 isn’t taking things too seriously and has had success with Netflix rom-coms.

SHE STARTED ACTING AT A YOUNG AGE

To get to where Lindsay Lohan is in 2024, we must first take a look back. She started young, merely 3 years old, when she began working as a child model. She modeled for Abercrombie and Calvin Klein Kids, and then she began working in commercials.

Lohan was seen in over 60 commercials that included Wendy’s and Pizza Hut and she also was seen in a Jell-O commercial with pudding pops king, Bill Cosby.

Lindsay Lohan was 10 years old when she grabbed her first starring role in the long-running soap opera Another World. Her appearance only covered four episodes but her early track record took her into the open arms of the Walt Disney Company.

LINDSAY LOHAN’S FIRST MAJOR ROLE WAS WITH DISNEY IN THE PARENT TRAP

Lindsay Lohan

The rise of Lindsay Lohan to what we see in 2024 began in earnest in 1998 when she pulled down her first major role in the Disney remake of The Parent Trap. In it, Lohan starred as twins opposite Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson, taking on a role that was first made famous by Disney veteran Hayley Mills.

For her performance, Lindsay Lohan won a Young Artist Award and was also awarded a three-contract deal with Disney. She was on her way. After The Parent Trap, Lindsay Lohan went on to star in the ABC movie Life-Size with Tyra Banks and then followed that up with the Disney Channel movie Get a Clue.

This was the path to the Lindsay Lohan we see in 2024.

SHE BECAME A MAJOR STAR WITH FREAKY FRIDAY

Up next for Lindsay Lohan was another Disney remake, this one she co-starred with horror legend Jamie Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday. The familiar story, one where mother and daughter magically switch bodies and learn lessons about each other, was updated musically to better appease Lohan’s style of music.

To date, it is Lohan’s most commercially successful movie. It was also during this time that Lindsay began to carve out a singing career. Lindsay Lohan stuck with Disney for her next movie, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. While starring in the movie, she was also writing lyrics for her first album, Speak, which came out in late 2004.

MEAN GIRLS WAS HER FIRST NON-DISNEY MOVIE

Also in 2004, Lindsay Lohan made her first film independent of Disney with Mean Girls. While Mean Girls didn’t top the box office Freaky Friday took in, it still made a lot of money, further cementing her growing reputation as a teenage movie queen. The table was almost set for Lindsay Lohan’s 2024 continued revival.

LINDSAY LOHAN RETURNED TO MEAN GIRLS IN 2024

In the Mean Girls 2024 reboot, Lindsay Lohan made a surprise cameo appearance. She did not reprise her original role as Cady Heron but played a new character.

She was the moderator of the Illinois Mathletes competition. Here, Lindsay Lohan interacts with the new version of Cady Heron, played by Angourie Rice, and even makes a meta-joke referencing her past as Cady. It was a solid hat-tip to fans of the original movie, connecting the past with the present.

Justin Long and Lindsay Lohan in Herbie: Fully Loaded

Lohan came back to Disney for her sixth and, sadly, final time with the movie Herbie: Fully Loaded. It was actually a fun film that co-starred Michael Keaton, Breckin Meyer, and Justin Long, but it wasn’t the hit Disney or Lindsay Lohan were hoping for.

Still, the movie did nothing to hurt her growing reputation as an up-and-coming actress, nor did the release of her second album, A Little More Personal (Raw).

As Lindsay Lohan’s star continued to rise, the new-found interest in her burgeoning love life and party girl persona was starting to take its toll.

LINDSAY LOHAN HAD PERSONAL STRUGGLES AND WAS ARRESTED

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan stepped away from Disney and right into the open arms of the tabloids. She began to hit the New York nightclubs with more frequency, creating a tabloid-feeding frenzy as they began to report on anything concerning Lohan, including her struggles with bulimia to her father’s prison scandals.

Michael Lohan has often been associated with his daughter’s many struggles, as the disgraced Wall Street trader has been jailed multiple times and has been accused of abuse, both physical and mental.

His influence on Lohan has been noted as one of the many things that contributed to her downfall. But the main thing, which is undeniable, is that Lindsay Lohan was her own worst enemy.

Lindsay Lohan’s life took a drastic turn. It wasn’t sudden, but it was a complete 180 from the teenage star she had become. Excess was becoming her way of life, and it was beginning to take its toll. In 2007, Lohan was twice arrested. In both of these arrests, she was found to be in possession of small amounts of cocaine, but she was never charged with possession.

Instead, the falling actress was charged both times with driving under the influence and one time with reckless driving. 2007 was also notable for Lohan in that not only was she dealing with her run-ins with the law, but she also had three stints in rehab.

Her fall from grace (much different than the Lindsay Lohan 2024 version) was in freefall, her abuse on overload, and her denial of it all only made it worse.

Life for Lindsay Lohan continued to deteriorate at an amazing pace. From 2007 to 2012, she was in rehab five times for a total of 250 days. She has appeared in court over 20 times in front of four different judges, was sentenced to over six months in jail for various probation violations, and was confined to her home for 35 days.

Her timeline of abuse and troubles is lengthy — too lengthy to list here but eye-opening, nevertheless. Lindsay Lohan, in 2024, is clearly proud of how far she’s come.

Most of Lohan’s troubles stem from her drug and alcohol abuse, her court appearances, which usually didn’t go well for the troubled actress, and a felony charge of theft from the Venice, California jewelry store Kamofie and Company. Allegedly, Lindsay Lohan walked out with a one-of-a-kind necklace that was worth $2,500, around her neck.

The Los Angeles Police Department obtained a search warrant for her apartment, but the necklace was handed over to the police by an associate of Lohan’s before the search could begin. Eventually, the felony charge was dropped to a misdemeanor.

LINDSAY LOHAN WAS ATTACKED IN RUSSIA

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan’s acting career was in the crapper. She was spending more time in rehab and the courts than she was in front of the camera. She made an occasional TV appearance (Ugly Betty, Glee, Anger Management, 2 Broke Girls) and a feature or two (Scary Movie V, The Canyons) but mainly she was null and void on the screen. But then there was that Russian incident.

Lohan was in Moscow (reasons unknown) when she began to live-stream her attempt at first helping a homeless Syrian refugee family and then turning it into an accusation of child trafficking.

Lohan recorded the entire incident, which can be seen below, and it was as crazy as it sounds. Lohan is speaking to the family in English and what may also be broken Arabic. The whole thing ends with Lohan getting punched out by the mother. Check it out.

Bizarre, to say the least. Lohan commented on how she uses Instagram and Twitter to keep lines open between her and her fans, but that it doesn’t always turn out how she intends.

She told Paper magazine, “I recently made the mistake of having my phone recording live video, and that I learned from. But I think it’s also important because if you’re doing something and you want to give direct access to your fans, you can contact them and see their thoughts and get an opinion.”

Lindsay Lohan eventually addressed the Moscow incident, something she had been trying to avoid for the longest time, through an emailed statement to the media outlet. “I’ve read the situation wrong. I’ve learned from it,” she wrote. “And that’s all I have to say.”

SHE WAS AGAINST THE #METOO MOVEMENT

Me Too lindsay lohan 2024

Lindsay Lohan is one of the few female celebrities who aren’t on board with the #MeToo movement. She has, in the recent past, slammed what she called female attention seekers and their #MeToo movement.

Lindsay Lohan was not happy that so many women decided to share stories years after their alleged incidents took place. She also didn’t curry any favor when she came out defending Harvey Weinstein per the Cheat Sheet. “He’s never harmed me or did anything to me — we’ve done several movies together. I think everyone needs to stop — I think it’s wrong.”

LINDSAY LOHAN HAD A REALITY SERIES ON MTV AND IS ON INSTAGRAM

Lindsay Lohan says she is finally clean and sober. She was back in front of the camera in a recurring role on the series Sick Note and also started her own reality TV series on MTV called Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club.

The series followed Lohan and her business dealings, this one at her beach club in Mykonos. She played more of a mother hen to the staff and spent limited time in front of the camera. The show lasted one season.

In 2020, after a dozen years of absence, Lindsay Lohan returned to her musical roots with the release of the single “Back to Me.” Apparently, the song was to be part of a new album, but that has yet to appear. In 2022, Lohan also released the holiday single “Jingle Bell Rock”, which was used to promote her holiday film, Falling for Christmas.

And like most celebrities, she’s active on Instagram with more than 12 million followers. She’s often posting life events and other happenings in her world.

She also loves to post pictures with her husband Bader.

FREAKIER FRIDAY

It looks to be a stellar year for Lindsay Lohan in 2024. Her professional comeback hasn’t been delayed at all while she became a mom for the first time.

She rocked the Mean Girls reboot, starred in Irish Wish, and did another Netflix comedy with Our Little Secret.

And now she’s set to return to a movie that really helped put her on the path to stardom. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are returning for a sequel to their beloved 2003 film Freaky Friday. The sequel, titled Freakier Friday, is in production and will hit theaters in 2025.

Both actresses will reprise their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman, the mother-daughter duo who hilariously swapped bodies in the original film.
