International Doughnut Day may have come and gone at the beginning of June, but the legendary Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are giving fans the chance of a lifetime. According to the company’s Instagram, in a post that you can see below, the doughnut bakers are heating up an opportunity for pastry lovers to create their own doughnut, win a free trip to their HQ, and – possibly the best prize – win free doughnuts for a year.

To enter, contestants are being asked to simply create a video that perfectly encompasses their love for Krispy Kreme and also introduces the judges to your tasty doughnut idea. As soon as the video is ready for sharing, they ask that participants share their clip on Instagram or Twitter along with the hashtags #ChiefDoughnutDreamer and #Contestant. This will be an absolute must-do for you or the doughnut lover in your life as what’s better than earning the bragging rights to the title of Chief Doughnut Dreamer – besides free doughnuts of course.

Krispy Kreme has long been a staple in the grab n’ go doughnut community with their shops constantly pumping out the smells of freshly baked pastries. Like many of the fast food franchises that we know and love, Krispy Kreme got its start almost 100 years ago when Vernon Rudolph purchased a yeast-raised recipe from a New Orleans chef. After finding the perfect building to run his business from, Rudolph got to baking and began shipping his goods to local grocery stores.

Those of us who grew up in the early aughts will remember that Krispy Kreme had a bit of a resurgence which would ultimately launch them further into the public eye. Between the years 2000 and 2016, the company pushed to expand its hold on doughnut culture around the world but it never could quite catch up to its growth, ultimately being for the worse. At the same time, you can find the baked goods in grocery stores, gas stations, and even vending machines, a large number of the stores have shuttered their doors for good in recent years.

The biggest competition to Krispy Kreme is without a doubt Dunkin’ Donuts – now known as Dunkin’. While both companies not only make baked delicacies, they both push their own coffee blends both inside their locations and on the shelves of grocery stores around the world. Still, the buzz goes much further for Dunkin’ whose tagline is “The world runs on Dunkin’”, leaving Krispy Kreme in the dust.

Krispy Kreme has also struggled with finding celebrity endorsers to back their product which is certainly pushing them behind Dunkin’ who have recently released commercials starring Ben Affleck. While, during the height of the Krispy Kreme takeover, big names including Jay Leno, Frances McDormand, Gisele Bundchen, Usher, and even ex-President Barack Obama were seen sporting a box of Krispy Kremes, the excitement has died down over the last few years, leaving the company without a solid celeb appearance. But, now, you can be the face of Krispy Kreme when you enter the competition shared at the top of this page.
