Kevin Spacey Takes The Stand In Sexual Assault Trial And Says Something Awful
Earlier today, Kevin Spacey appeared in Southwark Crown Court in London, testifying in his sexual assault trial. The Oscar-winning actor, accused of assaulting four men, elaborated on his relationship with one of them. Asserting that their intimate encounters were consensual, Spacey shockingly described himself as merely a “big flirt,” according to Deadline.
On the stand in his sexual assault trial, Kevin Spacey referred to himself as a “big flirt.”
The accuser was the first of the four to provide evidence against Kevin Spacey during the sex crime trials. The man alleges that the House of Cards star forcefully groped him while en route to a party hosted by Elton John in the early 2000s. Spacey, however, characterized the encounter as not violent or aggressive, but “romantic.”
Kevin Spacey expressed a sense of betrayal, saying he never anticipated the man turning against him after two decades. While he claimed he doesn’t recall specific conversations, The American Beauty actor said he remembers enjoying their time together. He further explained that their relationship became sexual over time, but they never had sex because the man was clear about not wanting that.
The actor refuted another complainant’s claim that he drugged an aspiring actor and engaged in non-consensual sexual acts, arguing such behavior doesn’t make sense. While he admitted to a sexual act, he insisted it was mutually agreed upon, recalling what he believed to be a pleasant, consensual evening.
Throughout the trial, the 63-year-old actor asserted that his accusers are retaliating due to their regret over becoming intimate with him.
Regarding the man’s allegations of unwelcome physical contact, Spacey told the jury that he didn’t recall but was certain he would never act in the way the accuser described.
During the trial, Kevin Spacey reportedly became visibly emotional, stating that the emergence of sexual assault allegations in 2017 led to the loss of everything. The cascade of accusations began with Anthony Rapp and was followed by fifteen others, including filmmaker Tony Montana and Richard Dreyfuss’s son.
Spacey claimed that his acting opportunities have significantly dwindled since these initial allegations.
Kevin Spacey entered a not guilty plea to a total of 12 criminal charges, which include indecent assault and inciting someone to participate in sexual activity without their consent. Prior to the trial, it was unclear whether Spacey would provide a defense or not. Throughout the trial, the 63-year-old actor asserted that his accusers are retaliating due to their regret over becoming intimate with him.
Kevin Spacey Continues To Work
Despite his claims that his acting work has dried up due to the allegations of sexual assault, Kevin Spacey has appeared in several projects since 2017. He had a prominent role in the James Cox-directed biographical drama Billionaire Boys Club. He also landed a role in 2022’s The Man Who Drew God.
This year, Kevin Spacey will star in two films, Peter Five Eight and Control. Peter Five Eight, scheduled for release on August 25, unravels the story of a seemingly successful real estate agent in a small mountain town whose facade of normalcy shatters when a charismatic stranger arrives, revealing the agent’s secret life as a disturbed alcoholic.
Control, releasing later in the year, follows a woman whose autonomous car is commandeered by a mysterious man, instigating a chaotic journey through London.
