Kevin Costner Sells Out Venue In 14 Minutes
Kevin Costner can bring millions of people to their TV screens with his hit show Yellowstone, and it turns out he can get plenty of people to show up to see him in person as well. Costner and his band Modern West have a two-night gig at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Wyoming, and the tickets for the shows sold out in just 14 minutes, which is a record for the venue.
Talent buyer Justin Smith told the publication Cowboy State Daily that Hank Williams Jr technically sold out faster, but that it was during COVID, and there were far fewer seats up for sale.
So, if you were hoping to see Kevin Costner play some tunes at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, it looks like you’re either out of luck or you’re going to have to track down some ticket scalpers. Costner actually started his band back in 2007 and played a limited worldwide tour that year, also releasing a studio album in 2008 titled Untold Truths, which got some mixed reviews from critics. Still, the band continued on and has five studio releases.

Most recently, Kevin Costner and his band released an album titled Tales from Yellowstone, which capitalizes on the success of Costner’s wildly popular TV series and has songs told from the perspective of Costner’s character, John Dutton. It has been a while since the band had toured consistently, with no shows since 2021. For 2023, these two shows at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Wyoming are the only two the band has scheduled.
While the majority of Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone takes place on the Dutton Ranch in Montana, the actual Yellowstone National Park spans several states, including Wyoming. Seeing Costner’s band play some songs from John Dutton’s perspective at a cowboy bar near Yellowstone National Park would certainly make for an authentic experience for fans of the show, so it’s certainly not surprising that both shows sold out.

Interest in the show is also at an all-time high, especially with Costner departing from the project after the upcoming second half of the final season.
Season 5 Part 2 of Yellowstone, which will be Kevin Costner’s final turn as John Dutton, is set to come out in 2024, though the release date has been pushed back a couple of times. While the original release date of November 2023 would have certainly lined up better with Costner’s upcoming concerts, fans of the series are still waiting on pins and needles for the season to finally release.

While the franchise will move on after Costner’s departure with various spin-offs and an upcoming Matthew McConaughey-led show, it’s safe to say that fans will be missing Costner’s stoic patriarch.
Kevin Costner has also had his band’s music featured in Yellowstone, so fans with a keen ear will likely hear some familiar tunes from their favorite show at the concert. In addition to playing some shows with his band, Costner is also likely keeping plenty busy with his upcoming epic multi-film project Horizon. The first installment, which Costner co-writes, produces, directs, and stars in, will be coming to theaters in the summer of 2024.
