Kate Beckinsale is racking up the likes on Instagram once again, this time with designer Nina Kate. The latter is wearing a long, animal print piece with a long pearl necklace to match, while the former poses in a sparkly blue-sequined top and sheer black tights as her cat (also wearing a blue shirt) hangs over her shoulder like a furry parrot.
The two demonstrate several poses for the camera, some more serious and others more playful, but almost all involve pets and sky-high heels. Kate Beckinsale wears her hair up in her trademark high ponytail with just a hint of lip color, but Nina Kate goes darker with maroon lipstick and dark eyeshadow.
Kate Beckinsale’s also-playful caption reads: “Kate squared/a pair of Kates/a Kate for most occasions except a boring occasion and even then we would probably have a nice time Kate-ing about.”
The two Kates have been friends for a long time and have often posted photos of their adventures together on Instagram. According to Women’s Health magazine, Kate Beckinsale made another notable post on “Galentine’s Day” last year, in which the two posed in short, frilly pink babydoll dresses and white spiked heels before drawing in coloring books together and dancing to death metal music.
This intense music choice surprised a lot of people, who wouldn’t have expected such a sophisticated UK native to be a headbanger. Kate Beckinsale has always been full of surprises, however, starting with the way she broke into the acting business. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the actress was a complete novice when she debuted in Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, but her ability to imbue the character of Hero with the right amount of intelligence, fragility, and “star quality” made it clear she was someone to keep an eye on in the industry.
That gig led to more on-screen roles in England before she broke into American films as well. Her first movie in the States, 1999’s Brokedown Palace, unfortunately, bombed pretty hard, but 2001’s Pearl Harbor brought her to bigger audiences.
Kate Beckinsale’s fame grew even greater still when she starred as Selene, a vampire warrior, in Underworld. Fans of the comic book character showed up in droves to see the film – and instantly fell in love with the star for both her acting skills and her tight leather outfit. She became the ideal leading lady in the eyes of science-fiction fans, and this helped her get her foot in the door for other roles like The Aviator with Leonardo DiCaprio.
At the moment, Kate Beckinsale is shooting Canary Black, which Taken’s Pierre Morel is directing. In this action thriller, Beckinsale plays a CIA agent who is forced to betray her country to save her husband. She is then cut off from the agency and forced to survive on her own as she struggles to find other information her blackmailers are demanding.
Fans are excited about her return to her action movie roots with this film, but they are also surely delighted to see her and the “other” Kate pose in sexy outfits on Instagram in the meantime.
