Despite issues with the SAG-AFTRA union’s Halloween ordinances, a number of stars took to the streets last weekend to show off their spooky Autumnal spirit. While some stars took the opportunity to dress as Batman, The Joker, and even a sexy Gremlin, others, such as Kate Beckinsale, channeled inspiration from real Hollywood icons. As seen in a recent Instagram video, Kate Beckinsale and costume designer Gabriella Morpeth joined forces to represent Anna Nicole Smith and her spouse J. Howard Marshall Jr.
Though Anna Nicole Smith had acted in over a dozen credited roles before her untimely death in 2007, the star is best known for her work as a 90’s sex icon, modeling for such publications as Playboy, Guess, and Heatherette. Smith married aged billionaire J. Howard Marshall in 1994, when the petroleum executive was a staggering 89 years old, sparking rumors about the true nature of their relationship. In a humorous take on the couples’ famed fling, Kate Beckinsale and Gabriella Morpeth took to the streets to recreate an iconic photo of the real-life pair.
Kate Beckinsale shared her costume on her official Instagram page, which boasts a following of over 5.6 million users, rapidly garnering over 83,000 likes on the humorous video. The video showcases Beckinsale in a flowing white wedding gown, complete with a bridal veil and blonde wig, beside Morpeth’s wheelchair-bound octogenarian. To achieve the J. Howard Marshall look, Morpeth likely put her costume design and makeup skills to use, sporting what appears to be a full-head prosthetic.
Gabriella Morpeth is best known for her work on films including Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and the live-action rendition of The Little Mermaid released earlier this year.
In addition to supporting Kate Beckinsale with her holiday needs as a geriatric billionaire, she also appeared in another Halloween post from the Fool’s Paradise star in which the pair take a more traditional costume approach. In the second post, Gabriella Morpeth appears as a sexy, scantily-clad cop, while Kate Beckinsale dons a provocative flight attendant get-up, complete with a paper bag that passengers can use when they feel queasy.
Clearly, the Halloween holiday is a passion for Kate Beckinsale, who posted multiple Instagram updates for the event. In addition to portraying both a stewardess and a 1993 Playboy Playmate of the Year laureate, the Underworld actress also shared a video of her daily workout routine, as well as a post showcasing her dog, Willow, engaged in the TikTok ghost-pet trend.
The trend, which calls for cutting holes in a sheet to provide your dog, cat, or other furry friend with a ghost costume, has had millions of hits from across the world, with a number of celebs getting in on the action.
This week hasn’t been all fun and games for Kate Beckinsale, however, as the most recent post on her Instagram showcases her bruised and swollen face following an apparent dental surgery. While there’s no telling what costumed tricks the actress plans to unleash for next year, we can almost surely cross sexy dentist off the list.
