Karen Gillan shared a rare photograph of herself yesterday on Instagram. The 34-year-old actress might be most recognizable in her blue-hue prosthetics worn for her character Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy. Or possibly her high boot kickin’ badass skimpy fighter outfit in the new Jumanji series. However, on Instagram, the Scottish ginger loves to show fans her softer side.
See the photos below.
Sharing the new photo last night on Instagram, Karen Gillan posted a set of photographs of herself with the caption, “Haven’t posed in while, as you’ll see if you dare to swipe.” Dressed in a casual and loose white washed jean pants adorned with black combat boots, Gillan rocked a vintage style floral crop top that perfectly paired with her skin tone and hair color. While the first picture showcased Gillan in a soft, laid-back yet modeled pose, the three photos that followed displayed Karen gradually flaunting her goofy style as her body poses get more awkward with each photo. Luckily, fans of the starlet know that the post is just another example of Karen’s well-known goofball side.
Seemingly, her “dare to swipe” comment in the caption was insinuating the Gunpowder Milkshake vet usually doesn’t share photos of her more graceful and posed side. A scroll through her Instagram page finds plenty of random sharings from her everyday life and outings to projects she’s working on. However, even when Karen Gillan shares a professional photo of herself, she can’t help but share what’s likely the craziest looking photo snapped of herself. The girl next door style obviously paid off, as the photo went viral. Fans and friends lauded the actress for her natural beauty and the post quickly received nearly half a million likes and nearly two thousand comments. Even Gillan’s sister from another mister, Zoe Saldana, took the opportunity to praise her Guardians of the Galaxy co-star while asking her to post more photos like this.
While Karen Gillan’s not busy posing for Instagram, she’s hard at work filming for the third and (likely) final film in the hit Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Gillan is set to return for the threequel alongside her previous co-stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, and Sylvester Stallone. The upcoming film will also feature the franchise debuts of Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, the super-powered artificial being teased during the secret ending of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Similarly, DC’s Peacemaker star Chukwudi Iwuji recently signed on to play a secret but very important role in the film.
At 34-years-old, Karen Gillan is looking better than ever. And just a look at the actress’s short spanning career in show biz shows how much the Scottish native has transformed her body for roles over the last few years. According to one interview, Gillan explained that becoming Nebula required a complete lifestyle change. “I had to transform myself, because prior to playing the role [of Nebula], I didn’t do any of that [strength training],” She also revealed that when not filming for the Guardians role, she vigorously trained with the stunt crew learning a variety of martial arts choreography for her fight sequences. Surely, these newfound moves helped Gillan perfect her Ruby Roundhouse kick from Jumanji, as well.
Karen Gillan has quickly climbed the Hollywood ladder in her short tenure. Within just eight years, Gillan has starred in some of the biggest box office hits. With Marvel certainly swaying her popularity, the actress’s future in the mega-franchise is still uncertain. All reports signal that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will likely be the last for Nebula and the rest of the rag-tag crew, but if history has proven anything, that doesn’t mean the ending for the adopted daughter of Thanos. Karen Gillan’s Nebula will also appear in Thor: Love and Thunder. Likewise, she is set to start in an upcoming Netflix film, The Bubble, alongside Pedro Pascal and Leslie Mann later this year.
