Kanye West is once again in the headlines for his behavior and comments, but this time his recent comments might see the man canceled completely. He started by wearing a highly controversial sweater at a fashion show that had text stating, “White Lives Matter,” which naturally set the internet on fire, as many believed that to be completely against the Black Lives Matter movement. Also, the rapper and fashion mogul posted a tweet that stated, “I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” which has since been deleted.
The latter comment made by Kanye West could be what could cause him to get completely canceled, as he has now been pulled from an episode of Uninterrupted The Shop. Uninterrupted The Shop is a show on YouTube, where prominent athletes and celebrities are brought on to have tough conversations and talk about life through civil discourse, however, Mr. West’s episode has now been pulled. According to The Shop, “We have made the decision not to air this episode or any of Kanye’s remarks. While The Shop embraces thoughtful discourse and differing opinions, we have zero tolerance for hate speech of any kind and will never allow our channels to be used to promote hate.”
The Shop statement continued with, “I take full responsibility for believing Kanye wanted a different conversation and apologize to our guests and crew. Hate speech should never have an audience.” We are not entirely sure what it was that Kanye West said on the show, but with his recent tweet targeting people of Jewish descent, we would imagine that he had a lot more to say on that subject, and subsequently had his episode pulled for those comments.
Kanye West has made plenty of controversial statements over these past few years, which all now seem to finally be catching up with him. He was called out on the popular celebrity show, TMZ, when he stated that slavery was a “choice.” These statements collectively have finally come to an end where people can no longer support the feelings or ideology that West is starting to speak about. We would imagine that more of his appearance might be canceled in the coming weeks as well, apart from him possibly appearing on the Tucker Carlson show once again.
Kanye West was once the biggest hip-hop artist on the planet, and that is not to mention that he became a massive draw in the fashion community as well, but with his more recent tirades and comments, he could be seeing many of those opportunities end. He has long held a partnership with Adidas, but after his “White Lives Matter” sweater was shown, it was reported that the company was holding that partnership “under review.” This led to an outburst by West on Twitter, where he claimed that the company had stolen his ideas and designs anyway.
Kanye West might think that he is exercising his right to free speech, but with whatever comments he made on The Shop, it appears that he is promoting hate speech. That hate speech is something that will not be tolerated by anyone, especially in the given sociopolitical landscape the world is currently in. We would imagine that The Shop and Adidas are not the only two companies that are going to distance themselves from the controversial rapper, as he could find himself being canceled completely in the coming weeks.
