Jon Bon Jovi is a bona fide musical icon, and his killer tunes have made him a hero over the decades for legions of adoring fans. Recently, though, the singer became a hero to a woman in Nashville in a stunning scene that was captured on video. When the singer noticed a woman hanging from the ledge of the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, he lifted her to safety and then gave her a warm hug.

See his stunning act of heroism for yourself:

In the video, you can clearly see Jon Bon Jovi walking with an unidentified person when he sees the woman who is desperately holding onto the ledge. The singer immediately goes to speak with the woman and, after a very short conversation, he pulls her to safety. The hug the singer gives her at the end of the video effectively cements what a surreal experience this was for everyone involved.

It’s incredible that her life was saved by a famous singer of all people, but as it turns out, Jon Bon Jovi has been doing his best to save lives in other ways for years.

The woman owes her life to Jon Bon Jovi, who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. He was getting ready to film a new music video, and that was what brought him to the bridge on that fateful day. All he was planning to do that day was create another rocking video for his fans, but he dropped all of his plans to go help this woman as soon as he saw that she was in danger.

It’s clear that Jon Bon Jovi walks the walk when it comes to helping others, and he was singled out for praise by Nashville Police Chief John Drake, who posted, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”

As for how the woman got into that danger in the first place, the Nashville Metro Police Department posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Jon Bon Jovi “helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.” It seems like she may have been trying to commit suicide and then had second thoughts, making her hold onto the ledge for (quite literally) dear life. It’s incredible that her life was saved by a famous singer of all people, but as it turns out, Jon Bon Jovi has been doing his best to save lives in other ways for years.

Jon Bon Jovi, best known for chart-topping hits like “Wanted Dead Or Alive” and “You Give Love a Bad Name,” talked a woman off of the ledge of the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge on September 10, 2024.

Back in 2006, the rock legend started the JBJ Soul Foundation. According to the website, the function of this foundation is “to break the cycle of hunger, poverty, and homelessness,” a goal they try to achieve through a variety of their own programs as well as robust support for the efforts of community-based organizations. Now, it’s clear that Jon Bon Jovi walks the walk when it comes to helping others, and he was singled out for praise by Nashville Police Chief John Drake, who posted, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”

When the singer noticed a woman hanging from the ledge of the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, he lifted her to safety and then gave her a warm hug.

These days, Jon Bon Jovi still manages to keep very busy: in addition to continually making new music and music videos, he spends plenty of time with his son Jake Bongiovi and the young man’s new wife, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. Still, he managed to find the time to do the right thing when he saw someone in danger, dropping everything he was doing once he realized he had the chance to save her life. The resulting video is genuinely inspirational and it proves that the singer was telling the truth with the frequent refrain of his 1988 rock ballad, fittingly titled “I’ll Be There For You.”
