For years the news surrounding Johnny Depp was negative, ousted from the Hollywood community following accusations from his ex-wife Amber Heard. Now though, in the wake of Johnny Depp’s defamation trial win against Heard, things are looking up for the veteran actor. Clearly, in a positive frame of mind, Depp has donated a massive six-figure sum, to be shared by multiple charitable organizations, Yahoo! News reports.

The figure in question is a whopping $800,000 and was raised by Johnny Depp through his Never Fear Truth NFT (non-fungible-token). The money has been split via four different organisations. One such recipient was the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, with the others being the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (A UK-based Hospital specialising in treating children with life-threatening illnesses) and The Footprint Coalition.

In a somewhat ironic, but equal parts inevitable twist of fate, Johnny Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard previously pledged to donate proceeds from her divorce settlement with The Pirates of the Caribbean actor to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, according to TMZ back in 2016. The pair were of course recently embroiled in a defamation case with Johnny Depp coming off best after Amber Heard was ordered to pay over $ 10 million in damages toward her ex-husband, a matter that she and her legal team are now disputing. Depp brought the suit because of an op-ed piece Amber Heard wrote in The Washington Post (that is now preceded by a hefty Editor’s note), which Depp’s legal counsel believed targeted the actor as an abusive partner, hence the case for defamation. Amber Heard did in fact counter sue Johnny Depp to the tune of $100 million, but only received $ 2 million in damages after the Jury’s ruling.

Despite Amber Heard and her legal team attempting to throw out the defamation trial verdict, Johnny Depp is clearly riding high on a positive news wave. As well as being in a charitable mood, Depp has a Netflix film project on the way as well. La Favorite, which was previously titled Jeanne du Barry, will see Depp star as Louis XV in a french period drama directed by Maiwenn. Netflix is now on board to co-finance and stream the film which will see Johnny Depp act for the first time in French. Along with his French Netflix film in the works, Johnny Depp has also been rumored to be close to nabbing a role in the planned Beetlejuice sequel.

However, the best bit of Johnny Depp news circling now has to be his charitable efforts and that has been recognized by one of the recipients of his generous donations. Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation tweeted in response to Johnny Depp’s charitable giving, saying; “These funds will make a significant impact in helping keep @PerthChildrens world-class for our children and families.” A positive impact clearly has been made by Depp in this instance, and with the news of his return to the world of film starting to trickle in, it looks as if the once great and world-renowned actor, is set to make a positive impact on the movie industry, once again.
