Johnny Depp Is Excited For His Comeback After Amber Heard Trial
Johnny Depp is returning to Hollywood, rested and refreshed after living in Europe.
It has officially been a year since the start of the media circus that was the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation trial, which saw the pair dissolve their marriage while battling for public support in a live-streamed court case. According to an exclusive report from People, both parties are officially moving on and preparing to enter into new stages of their careers. Johnny Depp is expected to star in an upcoming biopic called Jeanne du Barry as Louis XV later this year, while Amber Heard is expected to reprise her role as Mera in the upcoming Aquaman sequel starring Jason Momoa.
The People report states clearly that sources close to both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have stated the pair have moved on and have put the ugliness of the six-week long trial behind them. The June 1, 2022 verdict ultimately had the court siding in Depp’s favor, finding Heard liable on a number of defamation charges for publishing a fabricated op-ed regarding abuse she faced from the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. Both parties were made to pay one another millions in damages and legal fees, while the media surrounding the case caused both actors to lose face in the court of public opinion.
When Heard first widely published the allegations of abuse from her then-husband in 2018, studios were quick to sever ties with Depp, causing him to lose a number of acting jobs and be essentially blackballed within the industry. Ironically, once the trial began, the tables seemed to have turned, with fans worldwide rooting for Johnny Depp after learning about the abuse he faced at the hands of Amber Heard. While nobody can truly be sure of what happened between the couple exactly, it seems clear that the pair were engaged in a toxic relationship, leaving them both better off apart.
Needless to say, the trial became ugly quite fast, even dragging the names of the actors’ co-stars and associates in the process, such as Elon Musk, Kate Moss, and James Franco. The case was mired with controversy, leading to a number of publications reporting on the trial to skew opinions even further with exaggerated information. Memes and jokes flooded social media sites directed at both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, making the event impossible to get away from.
As soon as the trial ended, both parties were excited to get some time away from each other to regroup. Johnny Depp took to Europe to tour with his good friend, guitarist Jeff Beck, before his untimely passing away this past January, while Amber Heard has been living in Spain with her 2-year-old daughter. Heard decided to move to Spain shortly after the trial concluded in order to regroup privately, away from the prying eyes of the public.
Now that the pair have been separated for a year, they both seem to have gained some clarity on the situation. Johnny Depp is ready to focus wholeheartedly on his acting and directing career, while Amber Heard seems content to spend some time caring for her young child at home.
